Many of y'all know about my project, and yeah it's taking me a lot longer than it should to complete, but my free time is scarce right now.

Due to the extended down time of my truck, my fuel in the duralift pump bowl looks like **** soup.
I think it may be dead, it's turned slightly brown, and smells like crap.

I was just fishing for some quick advice on an additive or snake oil to try and restore the fuel. I do know of a few, I think Diesel Kleen makes one of em, buy I don't know how well it works. I've never used it.

Or maybe I'd be better off to just drain the tanks and start over?

Dump the bad fuel. It will only cause you problems.

I've filter 40 year old fuel and ran it without issues
You can get fuel cleaner that kills the algae . Problem is the fuel gets what appears to be tar bubbles on it that plug up filters. Only time I've really had a problem was when there was water in the fuel and I let my truck set
That was a booger mess.

Funny thing is, it's only been sitting for a year. I wouldn't think the fuel would have gone sour that quick, but you never know I guess.

I guess I'll try to get some fuel restore, and mix five gallons of fresh fuel in with it

If It's algae, you would be better off to kill it. Drain. Clean everything thoroughly and then refill with fresh fuel and buy a carton of filters. Then if you want to recover the lost fuel, filter it outside the truck. I've never had algae in a tank but the reading I've done suggests it is really hard to get rid of and when you do kill it, you have to get rid of it all at once because it lets go. Kinda like killing a green swimming pool. Hours of vacuuming to get rid of the bodies.

I've not ever had to deal with it, fortunately.
But I understand what you're saying. As of now, I dunno for sure if it has algae in it or not, I do know it's not green anymore. And I'm having a helluva time getting her to prime, but I'm thinking that may be due to the weak lift pump
