double layer roof...
why not weld a nut to a washer, then drill a hole in the lower layer, then weld the washer to that lower layer with the nut inside?
i apologize for bringing asshattery to your thread. you have enough fires to contain.

If I plasma cut out the inner roof from a reg cab I can weld what I need in from windshield to the cross brass essentially creating a double wall roof in the forward section.

Then one can use captured nuts or Nutserts in the inner wall of roof for a cb and couple of VHF and HF radios...scannerz...radar detectors what ever my heart desires ...

May or may not get done in the sc truck....if biild sc bronco...will get done for certain

Remember those shelf that would mount to the roof in the front of cabs to store items on or mount electronic components to? That's something to consider. I don't know if they make them anymore but they look easy to build.
