Been tracking down fuel leaks on my 1991 F250. Did the fuel heater delete and finally sealed the top. (Thank you Oilburners.net for that info!)
But I still seem to have a leak from the bottom of the filter. Should I just throw away the fuel filter and get a new one with seals? Or is there a different filter that will do away with the apparatus (water separator?) on the bottom of the stock unit?

Inquiring minds need to know...
Thanks!

There are tons of one-piece filter options out there... look up a thread called "let's talk filtration" for info and part numbers.

Type this in Google:

Don't throw out what you have. I'm thinking you have the filter that has the bottom aluminum cover with the water in fuel senser and the drain valve. Both can leak and the parts are available to replace them. It was very poor engineering to put the water drain on the bottom because the dirt sometimes get caught in the drain seal. then it continues dripping. Remove the filter and look for where its leaking and repair. Might get lucky and clean some dirt from the drain and fitx it.

Mine kept leaking after I changed it, and I found I need to get some channel locks on the bottom piece and crank on it a little bit. It stopped leaking.

A little torque amplification on a leaking drain, usually does it.

Called "Vise Grips" or something.....?:rotflmao

I was headed a different direction with the Torque Amplifier comment....... but you may have caught that.......

It is a lever, not a pedal correct? Been a while since I've messed with one.........
