Best way to get sound out of 6.9er.

No muffler on mine...I like the way it sounds when puttin around town and can't believe how quite it is at highway speeds. The fact that I'm deaf in one ear and can't hear out the other has nothing to do with it...or all that loud music years ago...or all the power tools day in and day out.
advanced sells a "thrush" brands cheap "seemless" (welded) muffler. its serisouly only like $40. I installed it on my 97 grandcherokee plow truck, it makes it sounds like a v8 
wasnt my intentions it was just the cheapest seemless available when i redid the truck. im pleased with it. Makes the truck sound like it has a cam haha

i agree,have two idi's with turbos that are straight piped,they sound good without being overbearingThe turbo.Honestly, no muffler on a turbo truck. It's just not needed.

I personally think a straight-piped N/A idi would be extremely loud. Even my rig with the 3 inch magnaflow back when it was N/A was almost too much.
In regards to cab noise, I think some of it has to do with exhaust pipe placement. If pipe dumps out in front of rear axle, it may increase decibels in the cab. My new 4 inch exhaust system exits behind the rear tire (passenger side). And although I know it is a little louder than my magnaflow setup, it's only noticeably louder when I roll down the windows. In-cab noise is about the same.
Cody, whatever floats your boat! Anything is better than the stock muffler these trucks came from the factory with.

well "dummy cans" can easily be made(maybe bought), but idk that EPA gives a damn about mufflers, its cats that they look for
