Howe's, any body use it?

Has anybody used HOWE'S products before? Last time I went to get my usual PowerService they were out so I picked up a bottle of the Diesel Treat. I've noticed an increase in the seat of the pants, on a hard jab to the throttle I am seeing more black smoke than I have before but most unusual is I have been getting 18.5~19mpg with this stuff at 70 mph. Just wondered if anybody else has used this stuff before or had any experiences to share.

I have used it in the past. Seemed no different to me than Powerservice or Stanadyne. The only time I use it is when it gets near freezing, which is not very often and then I pick up Howes or Powerservice, whichever is more convenient.

I have had the same experienc as RKB.... Whats confusingabout your statment Mike, is that the truck seemed faster, but had more black smoke.. More smoke=less fuel burned.... and since you were running he same chip, it would mean it hurt your performance...

But maybe it was just cause your mirrors were clean.. Alowing you to see the smoke?

One of my neighbours down the road 6 houses down swears by Howes he uses it in his truck etc. I have some here at home I use once in awhile but I have been using this stuff called Diesel Power + all I can say is holy shiat it makes the old IDI run good. Its like adding NOS to a gasser engine I guess the cetane boost helps.

The biggest pain in the *** about adding fuel additives is carrying a funnel with a flexable bottom half. With a flatdeck you have problems getting a straight shot at the filler neck. I already have to drive the drivers side duals up on a 6" thick wood block to get fuel into the truck if I don't it takes forever to get fuel in the tank as the filler hose has very little slope.

I'am not the only one with that problem the guys with E-350 and E-450 cube vans have todo the same. At the only gas station in the area there is a slightly sloped area around the diesel pump and gas pump so its a fight to see who gets there first when it comes to anybody with a flatdeck or E series cube van If you position right the truck is on a angle so the fuel will go in better.

The guy I bought my truck from told me to run it, he was a diesel mechanic IMHO but I run whatever is more convenient, Power Service is so common that it gets ran more often than Howes. It seems like a better lubricator, though. Resembles oil, unlike PS

Howes seems to lubricate the fuel system better to me. Have used JUST PS during the really cold weather, but not JUST Howes so I can't give any opinions on strictly using ONLY that when it's really cold.
