ill post up picures when i can but was tring to find a introduce yourself thread and couldnt find it but just wanted to give a shout to becoming a new member and had this truck for 1 day and half now and love it. extendd cab long bed it came with 37'' humvee mt, on humvee 16.5 rims beadlocks, PO took out the 3/4 ton axle and did a f350 axle swap, 5 spd manual, install bush button where you turn the key al way prior(dont know why or if thats stock) and i have a swictch witch switches from a mechanical pump or elecric pump if i am correct. came with a little over 190k, im a previous gasser but made my change to diesel and figure if im going to screw up or dont know this truck would be perfect specially costing 4k, so it wil, be paid off by time i get out of the military and afford something else, only wrong so far, two tanks dont work he said weird color was coming out so he disconnected everyhting from the two tanks bought a 30gal AUX TANK thats strap inside the bed so truck has character lol

Welcome to the forum. Sadly the colored fuel from the standard tanks might be an alge bloom in the tanks. May have to drop tanks and clean it out. Plenty of information on cleaning and dropping tanks. Please ask questions before you turn a wrench on the engine. There are some cautionary measures that need to be taken if certain things are to be repairs or replaced.

If it has a redish color maybe the PO used some off road diesel.
(highly illegal & big fines etc.)

what Brad said about the red fuel....don't be worried about it hurting the fuel system though....it is the exact same stuff as on-road fuel, it just has a dye put in it.

Hello and welcome to OB, sounds like ya have an interesting rig there, good luck with your build.

Now have a gander at the FAQ the Tech and Hall of Shame sections for some light reading.

Yes as the others have said pics will be nice.

Lets not get into supposition about algae or marked fuel until you are in a position to work on the tanks, it could be either or something else. Cross that bridge when you get there.

You will find us a casual bunch here not too flamey as well we don't get into bickering around here.

Again welcome to OB

Wish I could recommend a way to determine if the fuel is dyed offroad or alge infestation. Might want to ask the seller whats up with the color of the fuel. Or did you fill up at a station that sells dyed offroad fuel and pump it by mistake. I nearly did that on a trip hauling horses for a client one time in a very rural area of central cali... If its dyed fuel just run it and don't worry about it but. After a couple of tanks have been run thru the truck please change the fuel filter cause its going to be dyed red and some a$$hat cop can dip those tanks and pull the filter and fine you big time. This forum generally never reads about being dipped so its not an everyday thing. I recall the fine was way up there too for running dyed fuel on the highways. Reasons for the dye is to show any officer that dips you that your running farm grade fuel that has no road tax on it on the highways of the country. A farm rig is allowed to use offroad fuel on the roads but.. Its just to take something to town or pick up something from town. Kinda leaves the really open for interpatation too. I guess you will have to think fast and make up a story if your caught parked in front of a bar having a cool one.. "NO officer, I came to town to pick up some feed but they were all out or I forgot my wallet with all my cash in it but heres my license".. Thinking fat saves money most of the time.. Never works with the wifey.. She never asks a question she doesn't already know the truthful answer too...

I hear that a gallon or so of WMO in a tank with cover up a lot of red dye. Won't help if they break out a test kit but you may could play it off if they're just dipping the tank.

Well I'm finally home and looked in my tank, color there in both tanks but see anything actual physical particles, so I got 15 gallons left in my little aux tank in my bed that got robbed from a generator so I'm going to run it tell almost empty, hook up my tanks again and do 50% diesel in each with some ATF and check my filter and see what's showing up, when that time comes if anyone wants 30 gal aux tank that lays flat down let me know!!!
