This is the factory nut wrench and the modified wrench I made for the timing program. If you can heat and bend any 9/16 wrench and grind it you to can make one of these easily. Just bend and grind to fit. Or search ebay fo rhte factory wrench . A member told me the John Deere injection pump wrench works fine on our engines too. they are available at any Tracter Supply too. If anyone can find a few I'm interested in buying them. No tracter supplys around me that I know of. Heres a viedo of the wrenches.

I have a 9/16" Harbor freight obstruction wrench that I ground down to fit. It works great. And even after I ground the heck out of it, it still works good. I was afraid I thinned it too much and it would break. So far it's worked great.

This is a link the to S-style. Mine I ground was a U-style.

Somewhere I have a drawing of that wrench, angles, thicknesses, and all. It's just a question of finding it. I'll start looking.

there's a TSC down in Gilroy I've been itchin' to go to ever since some basshole stole my damn cowbell up in the city. I have to find the time when I'm awake and they're open at the same time.
just for reference, the OTC version is now coated in black gold.

Whether you have pants on or off doesn't really make any difference to me when you check the angles and radius and such. I personally don't care cause I'm not the one running around naked checking out bent wrenches for nuts in tight places! ;Poke

Yep, been there once. As I recall you were disappointed that I didn't tell you I was going because there was something you wanted. That's when I bought the GoldenRod filter.

I know nothing about your damn cowbell.:dunno What cowbell? A real cowbell? Tell us.

The OTC version is now coated in black gold. Yes. It's to the point where I'm afraid to borrow your's. You might not give me the full 400 yards. The frigging thing is just stamped metal, isn't it? It's not a precision tool, not even particularly well made, or made to last. I think I saw a price this morning of $47. They must have dipped it in that gold two or three times.

The picture----I can't find that damned thing to save my butt. I know I have/had one which I lifted out of the forum. It may have been a couple years ago, but somebody drew up "blueprints" for that wrench. It's on the forum someplace. I'll keep at it on my system too.

see the cowbell the the left of the rear pumpkin housing?
yes I am a redneck. It's not an exclusive term for white people. Southern Chinese are just as problematic for the mandarins from the north. :D
the whole world agrees our food is better anyways :D

Here's what I was able to find.

IP Mounting Nut Wrench: T86T-9000-C or OTC 303-287

IP Rotation Wrench: T83T-9000-C or OTC 303-228 or OTC 7461. Another option: http://www.terrapinmfg.com/display.php?prod=23 (not affiliated with this site)

I know this is going against the 'shadetree mechanic' philosophy of this site, but my freehand skills SUCK and I also don't own a grinder or the torch needed to make these guys, so these may very well make it on the Xmas list this year in case I ever get the desire to time my truck again. Then again, it should be noted that Gary supplies these tools (or version very similar) to those that rent the timing equipment from him!

Mike

PS - Some other neat tools:

Injector Seat Cleaner: T83T-9527-A or OTC 303-232

Fuel line wrench: T83T-9396-A or OTC 303-230

That flat wrench to turn the pumps is my design I had Terrapin Mfg make for me. We discussed it over dinner out here a few years back. I gave him my oem tool and thats what he made up. The sliding adjustable handle works great too. Or simply loosen the hard lines at the pump to lesson the strain on turning the pump. This turning the pumps against 8 hard lines fastened hard to a solid base sucks. Sometimes there is no give at all. Then the turn buckle and wrench on the square lug works fine. They are truely a great tool for timing and come as posted in my timing meter box when you join the rental program.

im slightly confused here, we need this 'special' wrench to get at the bolts in behind the cover plate that hold the ip to the timing gear housing? OR do we need the special wrench to get to the bolts that hold the ip to to timing gear housing...the ones that are closest to the injector hard lines?

I was thinking of just getting a half moon shaped combo wrench and grinding the open and box ends down?
