I decided to toss a scan tool on my 94 that I just bought . It's a 4x4 e4od .. Engine dies when you put it in gear . I think the tc is constantly on .. When you shift it out of park then back to park it makes a weird noise for a few seconds then its fine .

I tried a KOEO test first , nothing . KOER I pulled a code 65 - trans control switch did not change when brake was pressed and released .

Do you guys think that would cause my symptoms ? What is the fix for this ?

Thanks !

I started it up to see if I could move it under its own power .. It still died in reverse if you didn't power brake it , but all forward gears worked fine ..???

I pulled the pan today and checked the filter , sadly it hadn't fallen out . I'm just going to yank it and toss my other trans in .

Thanks :)

I have a new converter and rebuilt trans. I thought about just swapping converters but I'd hate for there to be an internal leak and burn up my new converter .

I will , but I'm using a radiator, trans cooler and lines that I just flushed for another truck before finding out it had engine issues .
I see that the '94 uses a different mlps .. All of the plugs should be the same though, right ?

The updated MLPS is now a Transmission Range Sensor. If you still have the MLPS plug on the truck. You will have to change it to the updated plug.
