Just got bored one sunday and had a full sheet of 3/8" plate steel layin around. 6, 3/4" bolts holdin it on and weighs in around 250 300 lbs. it has footholds between the d rings and liscense plate now also. still gotta go the headlight guards. comments? improvements?

That is a beauty:hail
Any chance you have the plans scawled down anywhere where you could scan them and email them?
That's just what I've been wanting to build with the addition of a winch mount.

 That is a good-looking stout-looking bumper.

I intend to build something similar for the son's 1990 W-350 Dodge and plans are to incorporate battery-boxes within the bumper and also a winch.

Could you get some pictures without the blinding sun-glare; it is hard to see your good work with all the reflective glare.

Good job. ;Sweet

Big lights....big winch....loose the little whatchamacallit rings...put some real D ring/shackle mounts on there.

Now as I have always said...I'ld rather be in a truck like that...and hit by some micro car/truck:rotflmao than in the micro car/truck and hit by that:eek:

I really want to have a huge bumper like that I just can't do it. I have heard stories of guys broadsiding a car and killing passengers because the bumper had no give. Not saying its wrong to have a strong bumper its just that I couldn't live with myself if the worst happened. If my rig was 100% for work then maybe I could do it.

Not trying to be Debbie Downer...just my thoughts.

There's a lot of truth to that. My bumper in front of 7,500 pounds of steel traveling 55 mph = :fan: There's added responsibility to driving a big vehicle for sure.

and to the OP - looks beefy! BOLT A VISE TO THE TOP!

Freakin' ni-hi-hi-hi-hi-hi-iiiiiiccccee!!!!

How about a spike a top each side for mounting heads?

Could extend the grill portion out to incorporate the "cow catcher" look, might avoid some of those accident crusher liabilities with some deflective force.

Although we're talking front, may want to place a few lead bars under the rear bumper to balance the load.... you don't want to do an emergency stop and endo!

Just kidding out of jealousy!!! :hail

How about these hooks:

or you could put these in for straight chain.... the ones indicated are only for 3/8 chain, but they get bigger.... don't know what kind of load you really want to put on that bumper though:

and jokingly mentioned earlier.... rubber d-rail or block:

http://www.chdist.com/displayproduc...&itemGroupOID=95634&sku=7507200&cid=cse_shopz

you know.... for pushing evidence into a ditch, over cliff.... whatever.

The winch and pulley system would be an awesome addition too.

Looks great as is too! Great work!! I can't even cut wood straight, much less do something like that!
