Weight limit on an 86 tailgate?

At the least if it didn't take out the gear box it should have taken out the shear bolts in the blade holders, and the driveline shear pin before the gear box.

Unless the gear box was already weak.

I would not worry about 900 lbs. I drive my ATV on my tailgate which combined with my weight is about 900 lbs. Many of the side by side ATV's now are over 1,000 lbs I believe. The only thing to worry about is the cables. I replaced both side cables on my F350 tailgate when I repainted the tailgate, as well as hardware, as they were both frayed and corroded.

Can you still put the metal strap plates on the tailgates like the old chevys had? and yeah i wouldnt worry about loading the walker ive a few exmark navigators over tailgates and never had any thing break.
