I know it's a little early, and this is probably not the right section to tell...... but I ran across an ether injection kit. Just a heads up for people. Seems cheap enough $40.00 Found it over at Surpluscenter.com

But of coarse not!

The two diesels I was thinking of was a 3208 Cat and 2 NTC 290 Cummins trucks. It originally had the factory pre heater (burned diesel to warm in the intake), but it's long since been disconnected by a past owner. I think there is a port I could use in the manifold.....

The only reason I'd want it is if I didn't have a place to plug it in and needed to get it started in winter.... Granted, I'd rather borrow a generator and let it warm up for about an hour though....

But I just posted the link for people who might want one....

The heat of the glow plugs.....and the explosive properties of the ether......not good bedfellows.

It's a good way to relocate youe hood, intake hat and possibly eyebrows. If you like the current configuration of your facial features, disable the glow plugs, and intake heaters for that matter, before using ether!!

Yup, glow plugs and ether do NOT mix.

I've got a stationary gas motor that has sides that are padlocked. And this thing usually gets started for spring at NIGHT, when the temps are 35F. Any how, sometimes, if the battery is weak, a shot of ether will get it going fast enough to start and stay. But opening it up isn't always fun or easy (fumbbling for keys in the low light, etc). But a simple push of a button to give a shot (mounting the mister over the carb inside through the top cover) should be quick and easy. In theory.... I have yet to order some of these kits....

I tried a similar system a few years ago, it was just like using "aerostart" or similar products, it did the job, but wrecked the glow plugs after a few starts.

I have a kit sourced off an old 1066 IH tractor that I run on one of my old trucks when I don't use the manual GPs. Works nicely, only shoots a measured amount.
