Raising the dead with this post but no aliens have abducted me or took my WMO 50/50 mix. Still runs fine....still havent changed the f filter on the engine...will get to it soon. I have to have at least 5k on this stuff by now....probably closer to 8k. Paying about $1.20 a gallon I figure. Truck has 113k on it. I'm at a loss with some of presumptions. Anybody with some impressive timelines? 1yr? 5? Any farmers out there?
Steve

So you mean 5k on a wmo filter? what truck is this? I change just to see what it looks like?

10K on WMO/#2 50/50 Mix

Yep. Still here. My 2003 7.3L has not even burped. Changed fuel filter finally. A little bit of black at the bottom of the fuel filter can but it dissolved in my fingers. Ran two tanks of #2 straight, pulled the filter and guess what....spiffy clean. Back to the mix. Anyone with 25K +?

Original injectors as well..... 118K;Sweet

Ive run 25k of wmo in mine anywhere from 50 to 100%. like stated before, dont get greedy, 50/50 is a huge savings . I filter to 2m before it goes in the truck and have a 2m filter on the truck. Have not had a filter on the truck get plugged yet.

Do you guys see any more smoke running wmo? I ran it in my 7.3 2000 and it ran fine for 5000 mile and start to get slugish and it smoked bad and that was only 50/50. I had to stop running it people in town were getting pretty mad. It does take about 3 full tanks before the smoke is gone, still running fine and yes changed filter about every 1000mile just to make sure and they where fine!

I would question the quality of your WMO. I dont filter to 1/1000000000 of a micron like some do, but I know my supplier well and avoid water, antifreeze, etc like the plague. If you dont know the guy thats contributing to your fuel supply...forget it. Dont even consider a public dump style site. Generators, Fuel delivery services that use big rigs....etc thats your gold.

Do you have a muffler? Its a stretch, and I'm guessing..(chime in guys) but I'm straight piped....I would imagine those with mufflers/scrubbers/EGR/PCV might experience some of your problems. A 7.3L doesnt have any of these but a muffler... Hmmmm

The oil was new, i get it from my buddy from carson oil company! One time a guy messed up and used the same hose with atf and had to throw out the barrel. The oil was 50/50 new oil and atf it still smoked bad with that mixed at 50/50. Ran fine but going through town i have never seen so many one finger waves before in my life.

Well I know those who burn ATF quite well also...without the smoke. We are missing something....Im hesitant to guess and steer you down the wrong path. There are tons of 7.3L turbo and nonturbo running 50/50 for years...Do you have muffler? More will chime in soon...

Hey heres a first post. I have run wmo unfiltered in my 91 6.2 but I added a magnet to the outside of the fuel filter to trap ant steel particles. Just an idea.

Oil weight? Why would you run new oil? (expensive). Get a water bottle (small) fill it with half "new oil" and half diesel. Swirl it around and take a look. Somethings not right. Good Idea JRP but fine metallics wont cause smoke... and haven't caused any known adverse effects in my truck within the last year. Muffler catching residual and burning it?????? Hell this one is odd.
