hey guys, im pretty sure its about time for me to change my fluid in the tranny again. i've never done it myself before, but was curious as to if it can be done. I know theres a drain plug on the bottom of the pan to drain the fluid, but how do you get it out of the torque converter. on my '01 f150 there was a drain plug on it (but it was hell to get lined up). is there one on the 4R100 tranny i have?

Is the drain plug on the torque converter easy to get to, or do you have to bump the starter until it lines up with the hole? I had this problem when I changed it on my F 150 and had to end up putting a wrench on the front of the motor and turning the entire thing until it lined up.

If you get lucky it will be facing down when you remove the cover.:D If not you can bump the starter or use a wrench.

Yep, take off the dust cover.

I usually use a large screwdriver to turn the engine over at the flywheel 1 tooth at a time while I am already under there.
