I am familiar with those machines.
Just curious...what model was it and why did you turn it down ?
$6,995.00 for a 2014 Kubota ZD331. 60" deck (fabricated not stamped) 30 HP Kubota 3 cylinder diesel engine with no emissions. Almost 2,100 hours. I had one at work and loved it - 1 gallon per hour fuel consumption, 11 miles an hour top forward speed - the blades spun so fast it would mow neatly at higher ground speed. We bought a newer one (maybe 2017) that had the required emissions and hated it.
The one I turned down was well maintained - no oil leaks - relatively tight. Everything worked as it should. I would have had to spend another $1,500 to get it where I wanted it to be - tires still had plenty of tread but weathered. Gauge wheels were worn pretty badly. The sticks needed new dampers. It was just a gut feeling that the machine wasn't right for my use and pocketbook. Here it is.... ZD3100
I have 2 acres finished lawn and another 1.5 acres of pasture that I mow with my 1999 John Deere 790 compact tractor with the mid mount mower. I'm fussy with the lawn's appearance and now I'm retired enjoy being fussy with it. Not sure if I'll keep on looking or be content with what I've got.

It must take a lot of skill and patience to build that structure.
It does. it was a pain (like always) just to put the band on. I forgot to mention it, but that's the only part I was involved in. This staircase is destined to Moody, TX after it's done.

Got an approximate weight on the Ole Girl today at the transfer station. With my buddy, a 1200 lbs utility trailer and I, came in at about 8700lbs, and that was with 50 gallons of fuel onboard. Empty weight of the truck with fuel should be around 7-7100lbs. Not bad for a CCLB Dually.

Also got the first real tow in since the turbo piping got fixed. MUCH better than before and able to hold speed better as well. 3k GTI and about a 2500lbs trailer it didn’t do too bad. Maxed out boost around 8psi, cruised at ~5psi while running 60.

Got some cab clearance lights replaced today. Makes a worlds difference in appearance.

Next will be fixing the EGT gauge once it gets here Sunday.

Installed my coolant shutoff valve, and then tapped the vac line in. Looking forward to freezing myself in the summer.

You'll definitely notice colder air! I have to turn mine down a bit after a while cause it gets too cold even when it's over 90 out!

One thing to check is pull your blower motor out and look to see if you're evaporator core is clean. Mine had a lot of leaves and dust on it. Cleaning it also helped a lot.

I had my evap core out last spring and cleaned it out, along with all the ducting. I'm looking forward to ac like that!!

I've also been thinking about taking the doors apart and putting some dynamat in them for added noise and thermal insulation. I know that some guys have done it. Has it helped with ac performance in a crew cab?

Hauled some lumber for a coworker who is redoing his deck.

Then I stopped by my parents to grab my old stick welder. I guess it's a little older than I thought it was! I'll have to look pretty close to see what shape it's in. I've never used it before. Bought it at a yard sale about 15 years ago and it's been sitting at my parents house ever since because it's such a heavy pig.

there’s a balance between “everything was better in the past” versus “the good stuff survived” .. those tombstones were built to be and were top of the line. That’s why they are still around. Like IDI cavitation, my concerns are low when I hear a good running one or can tell it was maintained. The weak ones died over the last 30 years. The strongest survived and are well seasoned.

Today I drove 110 miles to Springfield, to return an unused roll of rubber roofing to Menard's, go to a hamfest, eat unlimited shrimp at Red Lobster, and drive 110 miles home.

In the morning (temp around 70) it would make 11-12 psi boost with the wastegate tied shut. Coming home (more like 90) I could only get 10-10.5... no smoke either way once spooled. I thought the turbine would just spin a little faster with the lower hotter air density, and make the same boost?

Anyway it definitely is more responsive than the old stock (or the short-lived Chinese replacement). On level ground at 60-65 mph it's always showing 1-2 psi boost, and on slight hills it will rise to 3 by wiggling one toe ;)

Also I noticed it was noisier - a mouse had elarged a small hole in the side of the stock shift boot. A surprising amount of noise comes in through there. Time for a new boot!

I wanted to go to the one in Rochester, NY today but it didn't work out. How was the one you went to? Any new toys follow you home?

Unlimited shrimp is back finally?

Yes, "for a limited time only". Check with your local restaurant...

I bought a bagful of small components, a really sad Heath HW-12 singlebander that had been "hammed". I knew it would go for scrap so I got it for $10 :) And a guy GAVE me a GR 2220 "Bug Hound" (PC board fault tracer).
