Good morning everyone,

So I got my serpentine belt conversion parts. I'm taking them into work to run all the brackets through our industrial parts washer. Maybe even sand blast them and paint them. Dunno, depends on how lazy I feel today.

Sadly, my kit didn't come with any of the mount bolts that hold the dang things to the engine itself. Getting bolts isn't a problem, but does anyone have a parts breakdown of bolt quantity, size, and thread pitch?

Thanks in advance!

If no one else chimes in, I may have the info you need when I get back from out of town. I'm going to use a serpentine belt setup on my '88 7.3 and I should have the bolts all bagged somewhere in the garage.

Well so far it's turning out quite nicely. Turns out all the mount bolts are 3/8 16 bolts, all are 6" long except one, which is 5 3/4. Didn't have one, so I added a few extra washers.

I had to change the fitting that goes into the power steering pump in order for my line to thread into it, turns out those were different. Is that normal?

I also need to get the AC lines to attach, but the ends are all at the wrong angles. I assume I need AC lines from a late 1993 for the ends to be correct. Will the other ends threads be the same?

I would have to look to be sure but I am thinking there is something different about the way the low pressure line attaches to the accumulator.

Fun fact, you can take a 134a compressor off of a 1996 f150 with the 5.8 liter, and it bolts up and plumbs into the ac system all the same. All you gotta change is the receiver, and then boom, 134a fittings, no more conversion fittings.

So with that being said, I'll upload a photo after I get it bolted up. In the meantime, power steering is leaking past an o ring...

OK so I'm working on wiring up the fan stuff, I need yet another water temp probe installed for the fan controller.
Which one of these buggers is the idiot light for high coolant temp? I'm finding conflicting information.

So just to play it safe before I pulled the lower sensor, I grounded the wire out, and the coolant temp gauge full pegged to hot, so I have a feeling mine's wired backwards.

Edit... Grounded the other one... Same results... Hmmm....

Second edit.

So I ended up referring to a wiring diagram. Temp sensor is a red/white wire. Overheat sensor is a white/light blue wire.

Overheat sensor is the lower one. Phew.

Well it's all together now. Props to @03wr250f for his awesome fan and clutch setup, I now know what a working fan sounds like. I will be charging the AC tomorrow to see if it's any better with new lines and compressor.
Wiring for the 3g alternator was super simple to do, also plumbed in my coolant filter finally, after having a kit sitting on a shelf for years.
Also swapped it to red coolant while it was apart.

Follow up after driving about 30 miles on the freeway.
The plastic fan definitely increases the load on the engine, it was noticeable when climbing a steep hill at a gradiant of 6.5% that I couldn't accelerate uphill as fast as I used to. Or maybe it's because I have a functioning fan clutch finally.

Driving on the freeway you can definitely hear the fan cycling on and off. Before it was just a constant fan sound.

Not once did it get above 200°F, but since it's only 65°F out, it's not saying much at the moment.

I did charge my AC, having swapped on the compressor, lines, and accumulator from a 1996 F150 5.8L, it's now fully a 134a system, minus the evaporator. With the ac running the fan kicks on a little higher, and immediately had a delta temp drop of 20°F. Of course, this is with my heater core lines pinched. Really looking forward to using the AC when we go on our annual camping trips.

As for this setup, I would definitely recommend everyone get Ron's fan and clutch setup. The install was remarkably easy and looks pretty clean.

nice work man! good info about using the F150 accumulator. I need to upgrade my whole a/c system at some point.
