I have created a filtering setup as I occasionally get dirty road diesel or small amounts of fairly clean hydraulic oil for free. I than settle it and run it through this water seperator and two micron filter. I am not going crazy on WMO or anything I just wanted to be able to filter fairly clean things and like to use the hydro oil as a lubricious additive instead of buying new two smoke or motor oil to add to my fuel.

Who needs a transfer pump when you have a drill and disposable zip ties...

Pretty neat setup. Where do you get the filter heads..? I need to set up a filtering system to salvage some fuel as well. I have some fine wire mesh filters but gravity is my only water seperator at the moment.

Yo @captain720 have been digging the setup, good inspiration. I’m in the process of cleaning out a marine diesel tank and was gonna pick up a 5 gal HDPE bucket for transferring small quantities of old diesel and gunk (otherwise use a proper yellow jerry Can for larger volumes). Did a quick chemical compatibility lookup and HDPE has poor ratings for use with diesel - you have any issues with the black buckets used here? Not sure what plastic they’re made of nor the Delo container. Kind of a finesse thing and am sure it’s fine for short durations in practice but I’d be concerned about longer term storage just based on the chart.
I ended up snagging a 1 gal metal paint bucket for my use.

Can’t find other easy sources comparing diesel and HDPE so not positive on this but just wondering your experience

So far it hasn’t been a problem and it never spends very long in the bucket, especially the diesel.

I see what you say here, did you know that the new "plastic" jerrycans in use with the US army also are HDPE can's? and in Europe a lot of vehicles and commercial truck diesel tanks are also from HDPE. could it maybe be possible that they made a mistake in that chart or so? I mean, why else would many a vehicle/truck manufacturer continue to make diesel tanks from HDPE?

And a second thing I thought of, if you have plenty of such products, who are "slightly" polluted (dirty) is gonna cost you lots of filters, maybe a centrifuge is a better way to go?

With the ever increasing price of filters, sourcing a centrifuge is a fantastic idea. First step w/ any setup is a gravity settle for the h2o & heavy particles.

My personal setup is a knockoff Racor. I haven't personally used the fuel i've made yet but i'm also in the process of the 38g rear tank and putting the saddle tank back in with manual valves. No fuel selector valve for me...
