I’m part way through the valve cover gasket replacement. Did pass side yesterday and was expecting driver side to be easier. I’m having a helluva time getting the corner bolt closest to the firewall off. And know it’s gonna be tough to thread going back in.

Anyone have tips for this? Thinking maybe removing the clutch master cyl could help but doubtful.

It’s pretty tight to begin but have a throttle cable and something else in the way too

Ok was able to get it. Standing on the front driver wheel able to rest right arm by wipers and wrap around my left hand into the area behind the injector cap and line.
Palm ratchet helped.

Another day in paradise cheers

I like to use a 1/4" drive set up. I use at least a 12" extension and a universal (swivel) between it and the socket. It won't help to get that bolt started again, but you can already do that since you got the bolt out without dropping it.

I agree, a 1/4 socket set with u-joints is the way to go for super tight spots like that.

hindsight is 20/20 but the mentioned throttle and think vacuum line had to be moved anyway to take the valve cover off. after doing that the top corner bolt wasn't even a big deal to thread back on.
i like the stud idea as it'd probably help with alignment but the only bad part can think of immediately is you'd need even more space to clear the height of the stud? - maybe not a big deal though since there doesn't need to be much threads.

the passenger side has a couple studs to bolt on the dipstick holder/bracket
