It’s hard to tell on videos though
Definitely agree with this. Sound quality of an engine running through a phone microphone is usually terrible.

Back to the reason I was thinking valve is because it really sounds a lot like the 460 I had in the shop a few months ago with a broken intake valve spring.

Just brought home another one. It's not a diesel but it's pretty straight. Just have to decide whether to fix the 302 and drive it, or use it for either a body swap or engine swap.

I installed a new radio, amp, and USB cables in my Blue Truck today. It only took a couple of hours. I didn't take any pictures because there's nothing fancy about the install. I also NEVER show my audio equipment publicly. It's mostly hidden and secrecy also helps cut down the chances of a break in. Anyone remember the windshield decals the used to be popular back in the late 80's and early 90's? They would go across the top of you windshield and would advertise the brand of your audio equipment. I used to call those "steal me stickers". I felt that it just asked for someone to break into your vehicle.

That's why I just leave it all stock. Nobody seems to want to steal the factory 80's radios. And I leave the doors unlocked so hopefully they don't break the window getting in it.

You should see the radio in my samurai. It's a cheap deck that's literally zip tied to the bottom of the dash. They want it? They can have it. I just hope they don't cut my soft top.

Years ago I had someone steal a junk Sony explode deck out of my 84 I had in high school. Losing the radio didn't really bother me that much, I absolutely hated that radio.

They didn't hurt anything when they removed it, made a neat pile on the trans hump with all of the screws and wire nuts.

Only thing that really p****d me off with the whole ordeal was that they stole the keys that I left hanging in the ignition.

Having fun scraping 35 year old gaskets off the oil cooler towers. Been at it for hours…

Seems like it’s been torn into before. Red and black o rings.

Any tips or advice here? Recommend RTV on both sides of the new gaskets or no?

A few days ago I tried starting Tank, no go. Batteries died and just wouldn't fire. The next day I trickle charged each battery individually.

This morning I plugged in the block heater. After lunch I hooked the batteries back up and it fired up almost instantly.

So I just ordered new glow plugs for the old beast. I need to use it to haul the donor frame back from work so I can start in on it.

Yesterday I crawled under Diego and couldn't see any visible issues with the wiring harness. I'll have to dig a little bit deeper to find out what's up with the fuel gauge. I was kinda hoping it would be obvious!

If you look at the paper Gasket, it has a red line of some type of rubber seal.

When I did my OC, I used that Permatex Brown goopy stuff, think aircraft A1 or something like that. Some old tube I had for ever...
Put a thin coat on the OC end piece, and stuck the Gasket on. That kept it in place when we lifted it up to the block to get the bolts started. Also seals the gasket.

The side with the red rubber stuff went against the block, W/O any sealant. Been running it a good 4 years and haven`t had the coolant and oil trying to get together.

I used no RTV.
