Does anyone have a video of installing a Banks Sidewinder?

I've dug a wastegated sidewinder out of my parts pile, and it looks to be complete, with all the exhaust and intake plumbing. I'll have Russ Repair rebuild and upgrade the turbo, and then it's ready to install...but the installation manual has me cutting pieces off the transmission housing! Is there a better way? There's a big ol' cast iron finger coming off the up pipe, and it looks like that is what we're cutting the tranny for? I'm thinking I should grind that down to fit the tranny instead.

If someone has done a video of an installation showing some details, that would surely be helpful.

For the zf, there's a big triangular shaped protrusion you have to cut off. I cut mine off years ago, no issues. Just make sure you have the banks pedistal for a manual, they're different between auto and manual.

Don't know about the banks, But for the Ats I had to cut the nub off the pipe, cut a pc off the trans, and tenderize the firewall. Just too tight feeding up the pipe.

I'm not sure there's a pedestal for this? I've attached the manual I found on Banks' site: on page 4, Item 27 is the cast iron up pipe, which has the finger I think is supposed to go where the chunk gets cut out of the transmission. From my first reading of the instructions, that is what fixes the position of the turbo, then you tighten some bolts on some braces to the intake manifold bolts to hold it?

I have an engine on a stand and I'm trying to fit the bits onto it and see what's what. I don't have a transmission bolted on, and so I'm not sure what's going to interfere.

Also, how can I tell what kit I have? I'm planning to put this on an automatic, but I have no idea which tranny it was intended for.

Two different pedestals, early automatic on the top, and later ZF on the bottom. There may be more but these are the only two I know of.

The up pipe is the pedistal for the earlier banks, as it bolts to the back of the head, then the turbo rests on it. The pipes are not interchangeable, I've tried using an auto one on a zf, and it was all out of alignment, interfered with the larger zf bell.

It all fits! I got it mounted on the engine, and it looks as if it runs around the adapter plate, shouldn't interfere with the transmission at all. I haven't taken the engine off the stand and mated it to a transmission yet, but I think it's going to be OK, as long as the tranny isn't wider than the adapter plate.

Almost all the parts are there, I'll need a rear bracket for the top of the up pipe, and a bracket to mount the glow plug relay. I was able to get things aligned so I could hook up the compressor outlet to the air box.

It seems like there should be a bracket to hold the compressor intake elbow, but I guess that's suspended between the air filter and the turbo.

Now to take it off and box it up to go off to Russ Repair for a rebuild and upgrade.

FYI, the wastegated sidewider is NOT trans specific.

Also, keep the hotside, makes it much cheaper to ship.
