I had a few oil changes to do today. Moms car, sister's car, wifes car.... Mom's car put up a fight. I knew the plug had started to strip but I was really hoping it would come out without too much of a fight. I was wrong.

At least I had already bought another drain plug. It's fun laying in dirty water under a car on blocks welding overhead when you can't see and don't have enough room to wear your helmet LOL

It actually turned out pretty nice, I'm going to keep it for a spare just in case lol.

Then the plan was to go put the trailer back in it's spot and unload the oil barrels from Tank that have been sitting in the bed for a month because the ground is too soft to run the tractor over it. Everything is frozen now so perfect. Fired up Diego, then the tractor, then Tank? Nope, not having it. Tried several times and it wasn't happening. Did a few more errands and just as I was about to go in I tried one last time, in typical stubborn fashion it finally fired and now that I'm ready to go in I get to do what I wanted to do two hours ago LOL

In other news, the new truck (lease) we got at work that was supposed to be here last April finally showed up this week. Looks like they tried to take the stock number off the window with steel wool or something WTH???

Apparently they're going to replace the window and make it right. We'll see. This whole process with Penske has been a complete mess. Poor communication, poor quality.....

I've had to fix a few Penske trucks before. Can confirm, they like to pinch their pennies.

It's just stupid little stuff like the winch tracks on the flatbed stop short of where they should for example. Wouldn't take much to have done it correctly, just would have cost slightly more. I'm tempted to buy a track and weld it in myself haha.

I decided to replace my fuel pump as long as I had everything out of the way while I was replacing the water pump. I buy the new pump and set it aside until I'm ready and this is what I get (see pic.)

The left one is a Carter 1932 off the truck. The right is a Delphi from napa. The NAPA guy says that the same pump is used from at least '85 to '94.

Am I in trouble here?

Now that I am looking at the picture more closely, it might still land on the cam, only in a different spot.

That happened to me too worked out fine, I have a YouTube video on it with plenty of details.

I ws a bit tired when I pulled this out and panicked a little. It wasn't until I posted that I noticed that it will still hit the cam, but in a slightly different spot/angle. I just needed some verification.

Today will be all about re-installing my fuel and water pumps. My beast will love it. More shiney new parts.

First time I replaced my Pump, after reading to be sure to get the arm under the cam and the cautions etc...
It was easier than I anticipated.

AS I remember, I removed the Fuel Filter assy. and set aside, removed the big plate it bolts to and the Vacuum pump, which gave me room to reach in to clean out the area on the Block the Pump bolts to.

I are a expert now.

Be sure to use Blue lock-Tite on the Vac Pump Bolts.

I decided to get a new fuel pump because of a few factors.
1- everything was going to be off around it.
2- It was taking longer and longer to start if it sat. To me that spoke to a leak-back problem.
3 - It was cheap enough.

It was a good call on my part, because no fuel came out when I cracked open the lift pipe, and what little fuel did come out had tiny black plastic pieces in it. Also there is a weep hole on the side that fuel was dribbling out of. That explained my starting to smell fuel when I stopped.

Now all parts are tightened up and per the instructions on the RTV. (I used a very small coating on the gaskets to ensure it seals. Huge gobs of the stuff never seems to help anything.)
I'll let it sit overnight and fill him up.
A new fuel filter and an oil change will happen before it gets on the road. Just for good measure.

I finally finished with the wheelchair ramp project. They both decided that they wanted a handrail along it for her to use. It isn't pretty, it isn't square, but it is finished. Here's a picture of her leaving. She forgot to use the handrail that she wanted so badly. Yes she is that type.
