Every project gets a ghost.
Let me know what you think.
I think something is up with the red head box but..

Issue: install a new hydroboost unit, has power steering for about 30 seconds then no power steering. Then no power steering again no matter what unless you put a new Hyde boost unit. Line between hydroboost and steering box is warm/hot.

New ps pump
Tried two hydrboost units
No strange noises

What hb unit are you using? Do you have the ports/hoses correct? Are you sure the system has no air in it?

Strange ghost indeed. I seem to remember something about the hydroboost needing a power steering reservoir with two return ports. Might not be your problem, but I remember somebody saying you could not just tee the returns together.

Ok who worked at the dealer in the 90s?
1 hour in, 320 lock to lock and 60 pedal and the steering seems to be coming back. This is going to be easily another hour.

No way labor was being burned doing this. Were you vacuum filling and then siphoning off the surplus?

Sound like air and have ran into it before on a obs/nbs chevys, but is rare to happen replacing lines. When happens, I will loosen the pressure lines one at a time so they weap fluid to get it to work. Never had the issue with my truck with a f-super hydro, then again I have a saginaw pump with a super size reservoir.

For what it's worth I've run hydroboost for years with the returns teed together.

I set it up factory style not teed together but happy it’s working for ya’ll

I was out all day getting a 7.3 powerstroke exhaust as the foundation for this trucks exhaust and didn’t get to check it

It’s too early to tell, but my preliminary sense is I was bleeding it like a ford and I should have been bleeding it like a Chevy
