Be careful with cheap valve cover gaskets and harnesses. Lots of horror stories about cheap aftermarket parts causing issues with injectors on PSDs. They are spendy, but the Alliant stuff is best quality.

Do you have a source for an all in one kit of glow plugs and harness? Normally I would be looking at places like r and d idi or CDD but I am not up on the DI stuff.

RiffRaff Diesel is pretty good for PSD stuff. I have a 1995, which has the twin plug harness which is considered the worst design of the UVCH, so I converted mine to the heavier single connector design. I bought all the Alliant pigtails and injector harnesses from RiffRaff, but nobody had any Ford or International valve cover gaskets in stock, so I used Mahle as I had to get my truck back together. The Mahle parts were good quality and I was happy with them.

RiffRaff is great for quality powerstroke parts and usually competitive pricing. Also very receptive to customers asking questions. 7.3 IDI and Powerstroke are both awesome power plants!

I made this rack but I’m not totally happy with the styling of it, if anyone wants it message me I’m in Washington.

I replaced the glow plugs, valve cover gaskets with doorman ones, and one of the truck side wiring plugs. It only had 2 functional glow plugs. Now it is closer to being a functional vehicle.

It actually starts now! The new glow plugs were the last thing I needed to make it start without extreme effort. Now it fired right off. Now I just need a rack I like, 4wd, and a toolbox

I finally actually drove the thing to work without any major huge issues! Although I have discovered that the “coolant” that’s in the thing is quite nasty.

I think I will likely use normal green coolant and Napa Kool nitrate based sca as that’s what I am running in my other truck and I’m happy with it plus I already have the stuff.

my door handle broke off so I made this so I could at least open the door when I got home from work.

Than when I went to fire it up the starter solonoid was stuck so I smacked it and it started. That’s what I get for having a parts store starter. The good starter just arrived today.

If your starter is giving you problems, just get one that is twice as big. According to my starter guy there was a version of the 7.3 psd for a bus with a gear drive, a large motor, and the 2 bolt starter flange! This new one is twice as big as oem, cranks at 1200 rpm’s, and has about 3 times as much clearance to the exhaust manifold.

SD starter is a good upgrade over the OBS starter. Never heard of any starter spinning at 1200rpms though.
