What's the story of the fabbing on the ZF crossmember?
For background, I have 3 e4od crossmembers non-d60 which have worked no modification on C6,ZF5 and e4od of course and one d60 ZF5 cross member. The cross member your asking about was an e4od non d60, the truck then got a ball joint d60 swap and the crossmember was cut so that the front driveshaft could go through it, previous owner. Then when I stripped the truck I welded a drop bracket on the cross member for strength but when the new drivetrain went in the drive shaft barely went through it. The next time the trans comes off I’ll be looking for a ZF5 d60 cross member or just taking the one I have and reducing the drop by a couple inches.

For my other d60 zf cross member that’s being used in the next build

It’s from bronco graveyard, I’ll let you know how the fit is
The fits decent, what you would expect with a universal harness that covers three generations of truck. The wires hanging down are the grounds and hot wires for the license plate lights which I’m working on now.

Congrats man!
Looks awesome.
So I take it you fixed the existing column instead of finding another?

I'll bet you're getting real excited now.

Thanks guys, an intercooled T04Z IDI makes a great sound. I’ll put together a video to share once the shakedown bugs are worked out. The usual little drips and things of a project to this scale.

Rock, I put the existing column in the trash. Used a column out of my parts truck. Which stole that column from my IDI bronco build which is coming up after this. I still need a column for the bronco.

My next steps in this project:
Wire fuel gauge from duel tank to single
Wire the tachometer
Fix a fuel drip
Trim pieces etc
Plug and grommet all the firewall and floor holes
Third brake light
Find and fix a boost leak
The power steering reservoir fitting that the high pressure line connects to is dripping and I also fill like the power steering is weak, might have air in it
Headliner
Carpet
Move the 37s from my bronco to it and then rollers to the bronco for the start of its project
Daily drive it

The main things I’m working on this weekend are:

1. Figuring out why the power steering isn’t working. the pump isn’t whining, but with the new hydroboost setup I can’t turn the wheels much past centerline unless it’s moving

2. Something with the IP but not worthy to note much yet, I think a needle or valve is sticking it’s bucking

3. A fuel drip

3. Dipstick oil leak, I rtvd it today

If I get through the power steering I’ll be happy. I’m trying to swap the pump first.

New pump still no power steering. Later I think I’m going to pull off the high pressure line from the Hydroboost to the steering box and see if there’s fluid coming out. Maybe turn it over without starting.

Maybe the fluid isn’t making it through the hydroboost unit?

That's an odd one. I assume everything turns fine with the wheels off the ground?

Yes, smooth and easy lock to lock with the wheels off the ground. Even with engine off same deal. Engine on when I push the brakes down I can hear the tone of the engine load change which makes me think the hydroboost unit is doing something. I also drove the truck up and down the block and the brakes feel fine.
