If you go E-fans, grab beefy OEM ones from a salvage yard. You'll pay nothing vs finding strong enough aftermarket prices. And They'll last a good long while, too. While you're at it, relocate the radiator to the bed, run e-fans back there, and get a crank-driven constant-duty hydraulic pump sticking out the front for all those hydraulic shenanigans!!! Like garbage trucks have! :rotflmao

But on a more serious note, no A/C or power steering? I'm not a cummins guy and even less a Dodge guy so I'm not sure what I'm looking at but I can't find those two on the engine.

Have fun Rock, we miss you over on the IDI side. :fight:

I'm definitely weighing out junkyard efans. We'll have to see.
There's no ac compressor on the Cummins, so I'll have to figure something out. The power steering is behind the front cover. Kind of a weird setup. It's gear driven.
I'll have to change that as well to hydro boost .
Don't give me any ideas with a hydraulic pump, I'll have a knuckle boom and dump bed next thing you know....lol

The ps pump doesn't need changing for hydro boost... You can tee the returns lines together near the pump.

Dodge AC is a low mount compressor on the passenger side. Some guys notch the crossmember for room. Or you can get a high mount bracket from some other application. (Medium duty, etc.)

I really appreciate that info, I didn't think it would work with the dodge pump, but I am very happy to know it will now.
That was actually driving me a little crazy, trying to think of a clean way to fit a ford pump, lol.

I'm waiting on the adapter plate to come in, should be another month unfortunately.
I can't do much until I get the plate, which is ok, I have to get one of tractors in shape for spring yet.

Wow, steep price tag! Did you investigate Dodge trans prices?

I did, and that's why I went the zf6 route. I could of got a nv4500 for about 2k, but I'm not going to take a step down to a 5 speed. The dodge 6 speeds,(nv5600,g56) are 3 to 4k, which is crazy when I could use one of my zf6s for 600 bucks.
Destroked was the only company with the plates in stock for a while, but they wanted 1k for the plate and crank spacer. I was having a nervous break down, lol.
I noticed wild horse had them for 650 with the crank spacer and bolts, but have been out of stock awhile. I emailed the owner just for kicks, said he'd have some before the end of the year, so I really got lucky. He only had 6.
Yeah, 650 is not cheap but it's still half the price of the competition, and a machine shop.

Love seeing this come together. I would have been more interested in a DT swap just because so many people start and never finish those. BUT this is going to be a sweet rig when its done. As much as Dodges suck, the motor they came wrapped around is one stout piece of equipment and can make a ton of power. keep up the good work.

sort of off topic, what do you do for work? I thought you were a farmer, but then you mentioned welding, and some other things so now I am confused. LOL what is the final planned use for the truck?

Thanks, I'm really looking forward to making progress on it!

As for work, I was farming, that's what I love to do, but things went downhill fast over covid crap. I went to work for a weld shop since, next week I start at a company. After a few years I hope to be able to start farming again, so I got a bunch of side jobs going on,lol. Such as a mobile welding rig, which is the intent of building this truck in the first place. There's a lot of repair work in this farm area, and I would rather that then shop welding .

I have the ext cab too .... it is a pita at times especially if you want to take passengers. Does it look like much modification to the crew cab to make it fit on the ext cab chassis?

There's two ways to fit the crew cab on the frame,
First option- a couple inches of body lift.

Second option - knotch out the cab floor for that hump in the frame.

Either option obviously requires rear cab mounts to be added.
I am going the body lift route, but it's for a combination of reasons, not just the cab.
The truck being a cab and chassis is pretty high to begin with, so 2 or 3 inches won't make a difference in this case.

The adapter plate came in yesterday evening!
I'm hoping to get back into this next week. Between fixing the 5.4 and the clutch job on the loader tractor, I ain't had much time for it
I'm looking forward to making progress on it though.

Last month has been ridiculous. Haven't had time to do anything, and I need to catch up on a few ASAP kind of projects.
I did manage to find a deal on a factory short dually bed of an 08 6.4.

Don't mind the piece of junk under the bed, lol. I couldn't tie up my daily right now, so used the parts truck.
Pictures are bad, but the bed is very clean, just one cross member has a few pin holes I have to fix.
I think at this point I have gathered all the parts and it's time get wrenching on it.
