So which tank does your return line feed? That's always seemed to be the biggest talking point on switching fuels is diluting one tank or the other while running. As for the exhaust, sounds like you found a great option to quiet it down. I had a straight pipe for about a week and couldn't stand it at WOT so I installed a straight through resonator(6" dia x 16" Length), which was PERFECT sounding...Until I added a turbo, and then it was too quiet again...
The return goes to the oil tank, I only use the clean diesel for shut down so it doesn't take much. And like @IDIBRONCO said in majestic NW Florida I don't usually have to do that but I will for the next couple of months, because this part of Florida actually has a winter.

Hey guys! Been out of pocket, but I do look in from time to time to see whats happening. So a couple days ago a friend called and asked if I could go tow a friend of his......sure.....of course I can!. So it was like a 2010 f250 6.0 mega turbo with hogging mega, etc. It appeared as though there was computer/turbo plumbing problems, but who knows. So I was hooking up to him and my wheel lift just wasn't wide enough and I was already hooked to one tire and figured I could wiggle my truck a bit and squeeze it over enough to accommodate the inch or so that I needed to get the thingamajig around his other tire. Well, the ZF5 took a dump when I was pushing in reverse. So my wonderful wife had to come tow me home with the bronco. Yeah I know, cute huh, bronco towing the tow truck! Oh well, it just speeded along something I was planning anyway, I put my T19 in! So now I've got a better first gear and wayyyyyy better reverse for a tow truck. BUT there's a problem!, The PTO doesn't translate from ZF5 to T19, I mean, it bolts on but the gear don't touch. I'll post a WTB on marketplace at some point, but even if someone needs a ZF5 pto I got one to trade.

What happened to the zf5?

Rock
I'm not sure yet, but it stuck in reverse. It has crunched into 4th since I've had it. When my wife towed me, I had to hold the clutch in for the 8or 9 miles to the house and it made allllll sorts of racket for a while. My plan is to rebuild it and put it in the dually eventually, then I'd have a speedometer in the dually. The duallys current ZF5 is from a more modern vehicle and doesn't have a speedometer hole.

That's why I almost always put my Blue Truck into low range to back up. At least if I'm backing farther than out of a parking stall.
This!!! I dont know who decided you needed to go 30mph in reverse, but not be able to back up a trailer in a truck, but the reverse in the ZF5 is terrible. Any size trailer or any hill I am backing up I put it in 4 lo. way more control and no more burning clutch.

The tow truck weights just over 9Klbs, so yeah, backing just the truck up a hill is miserable. I'm not a 4x4, so no 4 low for me. But the T19 is sweet. I got hay today and it was a different experience. AND I can shift on the go without the clutch, couldn't do that with a ZF5.

does the ZF5 that came out of the tow truck have the parking brake on the back of it? I guess another way to ask that is, is the tow truck a f superduty, or is it based on a f-350? If it does, you can replace it with a transfer case, and even if you don't have 4x4, you can use it just for the low gears.

No, it was a regular 350 chassis. I'm glad the ZF5 is gone from the tow truck. I wanted the cast iron T19, I was just inconveniently rushed along to put it in. I DO have a driveline brake though. Thanks @Nero !!! And I also have a 4wd T19 that will accept it, so at some point im going to do the driveline brake on the T19, but I'll have to have my driveshaft shortened for that. It's coming though.

The T-19 in my 86 4 X 1 is like that also.
30 MPH in reverse to back up to the Trailer sucks.
Some times I like the fast reverse if Iam backing around the house over to the shops etc....

Also the T-19 does not have the Granny low, which is OK for the most part, but times I do wish I had a lower first gear.
With the higher first gear, I start out in it to get rolling, then shift to third. I can start in second, but just easier on the Clutch in my way of thinking. Also have the 3:55 Diff., which I like, but man starting out on a hill with a load, really need to play with the Clutch to get her going.

Installing a transfer case just for the lower gear for backing, seem like a great idea, but what does it do for mileage turning the Transfer Case? Or is it just straight through W/O any parasitic drag?

I do have the GV for the OD and or split gears, but also a 3 spd Brownie with Deep Under, Direct and OD. Wonder what parasitic drag the Brownie would Have? But I would be cool with the 2 Sticks. Another anti theft device for sure.

Edit:
I should have said I have the 2 above units, but neither one installed.
Was going to put the Brownie in the 86, but single cab, and the front Fuel tank is too long.
Picked it up with shifter, jack shaft etc... for $275.

Probably install it in the 85, as it has the extended cab.

Several different ratio t19s and zf5s. The idi trucks got the worst of them......

Can you burn hydraulic oil the same as you would motor oil? It usually has no soot in it and can often be had in a fairly clean form.

As long as it's the hydraulic fluid that burns. I know, that sounds smarty-pants, but there IS hydraulic fluid that is made so as not to be able to burn. Dip a rag in it and see if you can set it on fire.
