Does anyone have any recommendations for brush guards that look vintage but area readily available for purchase? Something similar to this ideally:

Just curious - are you going for functional or looks with this? Not that you asked but I think the bullnose trucks look too good to cover up with a brush guard. My bricknose has a pretty similar one to the photo and it's not that strong, it's just bolted to the bumper - fine for "brush" but wouldn't do anything really in a collision with a cow or something.
If you actually wanted something strong you could always fab it (or learn to weld in the process). New factory units get expensive quick, maybe start looking at pick n pulls or craigslist if you want that vintage look?

I'm going for a little bit of both but really love the vintage look. Simple brush guard would be good because I'm about to put our camper on it and we get into some forest service camping situations and have tight roads sometimes. Most of the animals we encounter in our immediate area aren't too big, no elk etc. just deer but wouldn't mind some protection from that too.

Most of the new stuff looks so aggressive and ridiculous to me.

We call these type “damage multipliers” because generally speaking they make any kind of damage worse but they look nice. I really wish I could go for the classic look but I generally like some protection as well.

Damage to the truck wearing it or damage to the other vehicle(s) involved? Honestly asking out of curiosity. I have not been in or seen a crash involving a brush guard so I don’t know…
I figure they would probably damage the other vehicle…

No usually it’s the vehicle that has it, the thin cheesy ones spread the damage out across a wider area and destroy more body panels as they bend too easy.

Sounds like a road trip.
Then you can swing by Gillette, Wyo, and meet Justin and see his shop.

Not this time of year though.

Here's a good thread on new brushguards available for our Bullnose trucks.

I bought a vintage Bimco brushguard for my Bullnose and installed it after painting it. It's similar to the one the OP posted.

IMO a brush guard is a pita to open the hood and work on the engine. It is bolted to the frame/bumper and has no rigidity at the top. Consequently if you bend the top with any force, you will also bend the bottom even more as it is not reinforced. Yes, a brush guard can be a damage multiplier.
Now if your in an area that has a lot of brush and your truck is not a show queen, a brush guard might be in order.
I am impressed with the trucks running a brush guard with hiway, smooth tread tires. Off road where? Next to the paved driveway?
