Source for new negative battery cables

What are you guy's doing to replacement ground cables? I was able to find a cheaper replacement dual battery positive cable to replace my trashed/cooked/junk/crispy/corroded factory one. Now I just need to replace the negatives, thoughts?


Are they both the same?

When I replaced both of the Negative Cables, had them made up at NAPA.
Don`t remember the price.

Had ring terminals on both ends, and use this type Battery terminals

I had www.batterycablesusa.com make mine. Basically told them what I needed and ordered the pieces and they assembled it and sent it out. Good quality copper cable. You'd need to measure the old ones to know what you need but they're better quality than what I've seen premade.

Not sponsored or anything, just a happy customer.

NAPA can custom build a nice one, or here is the listing for the 83-84 trucks.

not sure what year you have.

Replaced Pos & Neg five years back, with a set of these for my 6.9. Minor but important fix to get the starter to spin adequately. No idea if they'll just do one part of a set, my experience is - if you can spec it they will build it.

I think I asked my local Napa if they do battery cables but they said no. They said they could crimp them though. I ask how do they crimp and they said we just put it on an anvil and smack them with a hammer. Coming from a marine electricity background that just isn't going to cut it for me. I'll probably get a crimper online and make my own one of these days.

I pulled and saved all the boom power cabling out of my F550 when I removed the bucket / tool bed. The battery cabling that was in there is well done; crimped, soldered, sealed. If you let them crimp it on an anvil, then I think you'd just need to finish with a roll of solder and a little propane torch. Then heat shrink over the result. Some silicone grease in there under the heat shrink might delay the inevitable corrosion you see here on my driver side ground cable that came on the truck when we bought it. Now 4 years later it's time to build a new cable. I've been dosing it with baking soda but that has only slowed the corrosion down...

There is a crimper that is literally a wedge and a punch in a sliding apparatus that works as they've described. Used one many times with good results.
I really hope that's what they meant lol. They're cool guys but I do wish I had access to my old Napa. The ones with the 2 story cealings and a warehouse of parts in the back. They did everything including semi truck parts. It was a marvel of a sight. I really like the idea of lugs on both ends of any cable. seems like those lead claps always crush or break eventually.

Yeah, I like to call that battery STD's. Kinda like crabs for batteries. It gets us all eventually. I usually hit my freshly cleaned battery connections with this red battery spray stuff. It'll probably give me cancer but then again i've been huffing brake clean for almost 15 years now on top of copious amounts of grease, gear oil, motor oil, brake fluid, solvent cleaning juice, diesel fuel, gasoline absorbing through my skin...

I was working in industrial fiberglass when I was like 12, and I'm usually covered in grease......I don't know how it happens.

I'm getting to keeping a few sizes of bulk welding cable on-hand for these situations.

I moved up from the archaic hammer crimper to a hydraulic hex crimper from amazon.
I have a crimper from tractor supply for doing high tensile fence, but it puts a really good squeeze on the copper lugs that fit on our battery cables. I replaced the lead ends on a couple of mine and use the battery connectors that have a stud and wing nut. Simple and serviceable.
