That stinks! Sounds like new weather seal is in your future.

I was prepared to spend the money and do the work but I don't see how new seals will be any better in this spot that's leaking.
I'm stumped. :-(

I was thinking about buying new door seals to try to get the noise down in the cab.
They mostly look good and seem to be working fine. They're not dried out. A couple spots are flattened but still soft and seem to be sealing.
There's a couple small chunks missing here and there but he main problem is the upper rear of the passenger door.
You can see lots of daylight through one spot about 6" long and about 3" down from the top of the door.
The top back corner and the whole top of the door seems to be sealing well. And from the bottom corner up to this leak seems good. The rubber where it seals well is flattened a bit but still soft. The rubber where the leak is isn't flattened. It seems like it's as good as when it left the factory. Nice and round. I read about inserting hose into the old seals but I don't think that would make it stand any prouder than it already is so it still wouldn't seal. It would just make the sealed parts tighter.
The door fits and works perfectly and there's no play in the hinges or bushings throughout the swing of the door.

Would new seals be the same dimensions and not fill this gap? Or can you suggest any other options that wouldn't look hacked?
Can you send a pic and point to the problem area

Is your door straight? Mine isn’t and doesn’t line up and has no hope of touching a seal on the passenger side.

Even though the seal looks good, has it shrank? I had a vehicle the seals were in good shape, but had shrunk, so the would not stay where they belonged, so I had an air gap…

Here you go.
The gap where you can see light through is about 8" long but you need to move the camera to see all of it. The gap starts just below where I cut the slit to insert the 5/8" stuffing down through. And the gap really didn't get any smaller after stuffing the seal. That's why I'm thinking that new ones won't be any better.
The door seems to meet the seal above and below this area and the old seal wear seems to confirm this.
The door works perfectly and looks perfect when closed and there's no sag in the hinges throughout it's swing motion. It just has this damned gap that I have no idea how to close.

I'm no expert but looks to me like the door isn't shutting tightly enough. Should be flush with the panel behind it instead of protruding out a bit. Could just be the angle of the picture tho...

Yes. That's just the angle of the picture while trying to show the light shining through this gap.
The door mates perfectly with the cab exterior when closed.

Looks like you need to either replace your door striker or loosen it and move it in, tighten & check clearance. Will move about 3/16" to 1/4" which will pull the lock side of the door into the body. Probably have to adjust it a few times for ideal closure.
I've had to do this too my '86 a few times over the years after replacing the gasket/seal.

x2 on using new seals from LMC. As others said, no matter where you buy them from they probably all come from the same factory. You might have to readjust the doors with new weather stripping too.

On that note, what about replacing the windshield seal? Is that a DYI job or better to pay a pro?
What are the chances that ia new one might reduce engine noise in the cab?

Isn't that slit in the weather stripping suppose to be by the bottom of the door? Having it up there seems like a place for water/wind noise to come in.

I'd say pay a professional. Looks like a total nightmare doing that job by yourself. Getting it out isn't the hard part...it's getting it back in...

I made that slit to stuff filler into the seal where the gap is. :-(
