Just picked up 2 here in texas. Solid 1992 4x4 ext cab for 800 bucks. No headlights, grille or bumper. Needs a water pump. The other is a 1994 2wd single cab with rough interior but the zf5 makes up for it. Bad ip on that one. For the prices though, can't complain

That looks like a good find!
Notice he lives in Alabama. If you want rust free you will have a hard time in the northern part of the country. They do exist but it's rare to find a 4x4 with no rust. You will have to ship it, but it would be worth it.

Like the one in Ohio, it might be a nice truck but odds are it has rust. Now the ones in Texas, they could be a different story, even though they have mechanical issues.

Are you implying people in Texas don't fix their vehicles? :rotflmao

I ended up purchasing mine out of the desert in January for 5k with unknown miles. You're very likely going to have to look south for a rust free truck. I think it is worth it.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting one in a different part of the country. In md where I am at trucks that are 10 years old have rust issues... Debating whether I need a 4x4... I’m never going to drive it in the snow but I have a 30 ft scarab that will be launched and pulled occasionally.. I’ve always had a 4x4 launching larger boats so not sure if a 2wd will be an issue.. I have a pretty steep high traffic ramp where I’m at so it’s always wet when pulling a boat.

If you get a zf 5 speed equipped truck you will want 4x4 for the low range for backing that trailer. One gripe I have with the zf is reverse is too fast. It's great for plowing snow but not much else.

I never have a problem with my boat in 2H with my zf, but then again I also have 4:11 gears. It was a bit more annoying when they were 3:55.

It's way easier to find 'what you're looking for', for both truck and budget, if you are willing to travel to pick it up. vice grip garage comes to mind haha

I've had to get out and lock the hubs and shift into 4wd to pull my 18' boat out of the water after spinning my rear tire(s) on a wet concrete boat ramp.
What would I have done if I didn't have that option?
