They are in and everything seems good so far! Yes I did it all standing on my head and I actually talked to Justin on the phone most helpful guy ever and I had to replumb almost everything as I had the 3/16ths system and I ended up removing a whole bunch of extra junk very happy with it.

My Air Cleaner is like your picture. No matter how tight the Center Bolt, the vibration will let the thing move and rest on the Injector hard line.
I cut a slit in a piece of hose, and slipped it over the HL so it wasn`t rubbing on it.

All engines have blow by to some degree, just the nature of the beasts.

I agree, theres a "balance" to the proper amount of oil/mist going into the intake and the cdr function. Theres two options, either advise people to do preventative maintenance. IE we say to people maintenance is cheaper than repair. - but people dont like spending money when they dont "see" an issue. Or you have to use a general guideline as reference. The air cleaner bolt dripping oil is a reference.

I still have some injector area fuel “weeps” not quite leaks, I dont think it’s from the R and D rails and it’s not blown out o rings. Nothing shows on the soapy water test so it’s not a serious compression leak or anything I think it’s crusty ancient injectors, old copper washers, and crusty old hard lines coming from an injector pump that sometimes weeps a little too. I think I will need to just run it.

Has anyone tried installing a diesel intake air heater like they have on some modern rigs? Seems like it could be neat. We have about 10-20 degrees here most days currently and I don’t always have block heat, she does fine but everything helps.

I haven’t tried that, but I did just try my new white rodgers GP relay setup this morning in the 40s and it started after a single 8 second cycle. That’s with the timing off too. Just roughly did it by ear while setting the engine up.

Huh, interesting. Wonder how well it would work in an idit air filter housing.

I think that you'd have to put it into your intake manifold. I don't think it would do much installed in your air cleaner. That's a big volume of air.

I think on an NA if you put it near the manifold “mouth” it would probably be close enough. On the idit isn’t your air filter way far away and pre turbo?

Yes it is. That's just another good reason to put it in the intake manifold.
That would likely be necessary to prevent boost leaks as well. I am NA and I think I would rather machine up a bung to weld into the air cleaner just above the intake hole. The Cummins style grid heater is also available but I think it would be more difficult to adapt. The Cummins uses only a air heater no glow plugs and they do start, some duramaxes use both an air heater and glow plugs for faster warm up and eliminating idle hazing as well as aiding cold starts. The air heaters seem to be able to hold up to a MUCH longer runtime than the glow plugs so they can be ran during warm up according to my research and they are super easy to access if mounted just above the intake manifold intake hole.

I have an old John Deere 950 with the 3 cylinder Yanmar engine. I has to goofiest starting aid I have ever seen. I dribbles Diesel into the hot heating element, starts a fire, and sucks it in to start the engine.

This just like mine.

$2000 seems pretty cheap, see them going for a lot more
