You're dreaming.

30 years ago the IDI was the bees knees. There were a number of corporations that offered a host of aftermarket parts with next day availability. Ideas on power and economy were abuzz, and people were very active about the platform. Now you have a handful of niche vendors that have uncertain lead times, with only a few people are active about them. Most questions here are about repair and maintenance, not power/performance.

Yes, there will always be a community for them, as you've seen with your caddy. That community has flourished in the last decade as people became more familiar and frequently use the internet. Unfortunately, the number of IDI's on the road continue to decline every day. As newer and newer trucks come out with more and more power, these old dinosaurs are unfortunately going to become less and less common.

Argue it if you want, but 30 years ago IDI fords were on every corner of America. You want to make that claim now?
Nah, and nice job selectively editing the quote because I said outside of this forum in the full context. If we open up an Oilburners main stream news station I'll get you a nice job taking things out of context. From my original post, that's because you are seeing the forum die and not other areas of social media. Obviously we aren't in the year 1990 and was there bolt ons, yes, is the engine pushed continually farther into its limits now versus 1990, yes. When I first started reading about IDIs in 2016 people didnt even really think you could find the limit to the factory NA rods.

I selectively edited it because that was the part I was addressing. What I said didn't pertain to your caddy or anything else in the post. Are you upset that I didn't comment on your caddy? Nothing personal about it, I have 2 caddy northstars myself, but it just didn't pertain to what I was saying.

I bought my bus in 2013, lurked this forum a lot, along with FTE and a host of others, long before I joined and started posting. If you consolidated the idi owners to one forum, you could then have a pretty large group. But a lot of those owners have gone from one forum to another for a reason, so I don't foresee that consolidation happening. A lot of the past members have gone down, and the number of owners has gone down, and will continue to do so. New members will always be showing up, but the overall number of IDI's on the road will only continue to go down. If you feel IDI interest and buzz is only growing, then that's great. But the numbers say otherwise.

On the forum or this thread?

I joined the forum because I was looking for a rayjay manifold. Something most people have never heard of, and this forum had the most postings on people having one, asking about them, etc. So I joined. Then stuck around for the dialogue, helping others out, giving my thoughts, etc.

Why I posted in this thread? Because I don't think shaggy is at fault for the decline of this forum, and that hacked is dreaming if he thinks the IDI community is growing. I'm sure the numbers are out there on participation and membership, and I'd be more then happy to see the numbers and change my opinion, but until then I believe all forums are declining across the board, at least the handful of them that I'm on are. Places that used to have a dozen posts per hour in the 2000's, went to a dozen posts per day, which went to a dozen posts per week, and are now lucky to get a dozen posts per month. Some of those forums dried up because the users went to their respective facebook groups for whatever reason. Some also dried up because of a waning interest in the platform.

You're welcome to your own opinions.

I joined Super Duty Diesel in 2005 when it was just getting started. I was there when it "died" several years back (when Shaggy bought it). I came over to Oil Burners to keep up with Ford Diesel trucks. I sold my diesel truck about 4 years ago, but I still come here, even though it is pretty much dead. My Opinion!

This is where I strongly agree! So, in @hacked89 opinion the site is going down hill and IDI interest is going up. You say, the fact is that IDIs are loosing interest. I don't know what shaggy thinks, but I know this if you're right and hacked is wrong, then I'd do like "billy jo and bobby sue" and "take the money and run"( this is for the Steve Miller fans). If hacked is right and shaggy is wrong then maybe they should get together.

But if you're familiar with my weird post I might add that I watch enough Knight Rider and ateam that I can come up with a wacky senerio where your seemingly needless chiming in has something to do with you wanting to take over the world.

I do find these forum politics curious.

I have owned my IDIT since 2008 and this forum is my #1 source of wisdom about it. Earlier this year I asked a question and felt I got some decent responses that helped me. Whoever runs it ultimately, I selfishly hope this content and culture of helping is not lost.

I'm not familiar, and I've got no global ambitions. I've posted 4 times here(now 5), 3(now 4) were in response to people quoting me. Should I not respond to that? I feel a response is acceptable in those situations. Should I have posted in this at all? Probably not, it's no skin off my back who owns the forum. I'll eventually go on to greener pastures like the rest of the inactive members. But if one wasn't interested in eliciting public opinion about buying/selling the forum, then why post about it publicly? A PM to shaggy would have conveyed the interest in purchase, without creating a single opinion on it.

Oh, and how are my 5 posts needless chiming in, yet your 6 are somehow valued? Ok bud........

You're valued. Maybe hacked has global ambition and there'll be a plot twist that we can't anticipate. Kinda like killing superman in the middle 90's to rebirth interest and I think they did that with the Simpsons too. I don't have any skin in the game either, nor a dog in the fight, but this is interesting.

I tell you what, if oil burners had a Grammys award thing this thread has potential to be as good as @Selahdoor thread about trailer wiring or his resistor in his dash...... which in my unorthodox opinion is hands down the best mystery novels WITH endings ever.

You don’t seem to understand a key point that you actually agree with me on and keep deflecting it to other things, trying to be condescending that I would be upset about an internet convo.

1. Forums are generally dying
2. Not all forums are dying
3. This forum is slowly dying
4. IDI enthusiast interest on the internet is Up outside of forums
5. This forum has potential to be much more than it currently is (My opinion, and if you or anyone else think it has less potential better for the resale cost). But it’s no surprise of its current state referring to my post #1.

There is no surprise to this forums decline. Look at the owner before shaggy, 12,000+ posts and community engagement. Shaggy rarely ever engages or is part of the community. Even at the time this site was sold to him it was acknowledged that he wasn't participating or part of the community. He didn't even have a roadmap, strategy or plan for the website besides keep it running and add some vendors

Trend Analytics

Funny, oilburners down, 7.3 IDI up.
One data point, like I said. Theres others. I have more data but won't be sharing pending if a deal is made to purchase.
@Booyah45828 - alot of talk and not alot of data for someone calling people out.
