my blinker fuse keeps blowing rapidly like every 10 minutes so im going to assume i got a mean short somewhere

i assumed it was coming from my lets just say much to desired trailer wiring i mean its had every trailer hook up i can think of but only 2 plugs are there and there's just a ball of wires with no connectors so i capped each wire off with a insulated butt connector and that managed to make my situation worse blowing once a day

so now i get mad and i disconnect all trailer wiring from the connectors and i think bam problem solved NO pops every 3 turns and its not popping the fuses like a regular short its like a massive short giant burnt area

so I'm loss it has to be trailer wiring related but i don't know how since i disconnected them
any help input comments etc would be greatly appreciated

Try replacing the blinker can. They can make the fuse blow. My hazard fuse blew due to that.

We know the rear brake lights and wiring are the same as the rear turns. Can you stand on the brake pedal all day long and the fuse doesn't blow? If that is true, then the problem is not going to be in the rear.

It could be anywhere in the front, and it could also be in the dash wiring, the cluster indicators are wired directly to the front turn circuits. Here's a diagram.

I found mine was under the rear box and was pinched to the frame. Re-routed everything fine now.

Alright y’all so it went away but it’s back with a vengeance this time like every 5 seconds not but this time is a little harder
So I just let the truck be in the run position just letting them blink with the truck off 10 minutes for each blinker (left and right) nothing so I went for a drive and bam instantly again
So I had the truck off while the truck is blinking pressed the brake pedal rapidly also held it nothing
So I jumped the brake light switch so they just stayed on let them blink 10 minutes each side while truck was off perfect
So I did the same thing again but with the truck in 10 minutes each side brake light switch jumped nothing fuse still good and blinking away
But when I drive I get one blink session the next time I try it’s blown
I’m so lost any body have any ideas?

Take a drive and never use the blinkers, just the brakes. Like I said, the wires and the bulbs are the same for the brakes and the turns in the rear from the column all the way back. So if you can drive it for long periods not using the blinkers and the brake fuse never blows, then you know the problem is going to be up front with the front blinker wiring and lights or it will be in the dash area.

Don't worry about not using the blinkers for awhile, a lot of drivers don't even know what that lever on the side of the steering wheel is for, so you will fit right in till you get it figured out.

You need to narrow this down a little bit, so at least you know if the problem is in the front or the rear.

Let’s say it is the front how can I narrow it down further?

Well I jumped the gun on that conclusion, test drive not touching the blinkers and the fuse is blown, what are the text steps?

I do not know if your year truck is the same system as my 93, my recall on the brake part under the floor mounted to the frame fixed mine. Brake fluid was dripping onto the wire connector and popping fuse.

RABS modual? Mines a 86 so I think that was the last year without it
I’m hoping with it being narrowed down to after the directional switch back that I’ll just see a rubbed though wire on the frame

Verify which fuse you are replacing. Fuse 5 is the flasher fuse, fuse 1 is the brake fuse.

If the flasher fuse blew and you did not touch the turnsignals, then your problem is going to be the blue wire going from the fuse box where the flasher mounts, up the column to the turnsignal switch. Could be shorting out inside the column or getting tangled in the pedals around the column.

If the brake fuse blew, then your problem is most likely at the rear of the truck. Look for cobbled up trailer plug wiring.

Woops, I missed something in the diagrams. If you look at the diagram above, the back-up lamps are also on that fuse. Is it possible when you feel better, to never use reverse? Then see if the fuse blows. It could be something with the reverse light circuit blowing the fuse.

Might eventually get this narrowed down.
