Hey all I have a 1993 F350 7.3 idi non turbo. I removed the sending unit and the tanks, the sending units were all rusty and pretty much falling apart in my hand from rust. Question is where is the best place to get a new unit for the front and rear tanks, plus does 1 size fit both rear and front tank?

Subscribed. I need to do mine also one of these days.
Did you pull the bed off to do it?

I just get them off rockauto. If you don't do "shower heads" and you opt for a piece of fuel line, make sure you get fuel line rated for in tank use. And check those tanks over for pin holes, pressure wash them inside and out, no holds barred! Your fuel system IS your truck, and now's your opportunity to make this one part of your truck you don't have to second guess. Have fun, post pictures, ask questions, these guys are here to help, YO!

We got some from RockAuto, some from NAPA. Both are reasonable prices. We routinely toss the front tank and run off a deep 38gal back tank or a 100gal bed tank. Too much trouble with dual tanks. And the tank pickups break off part way down.

If you ever need a SD fuel pickup, better sit down before you look at the prices out here. Furd was asking $600 and a long wait. Even RockAuto was high. Remember, it's not a lift pump, just pickup and sender. I got a much better one from Riff Raff Diesel instead, made in USA not chyna.

Yes I pulled the bed off,
That is the easiest way. If you don't have a way to completely remove the bed, you may be able to lift it up high enough to work underneath it when you replace the sending unit. You will still need to remove the filler necks from the bed side and unplug the wiring if you try the bed lift trick. If you do try that, be sure to use blocks underneath the bed to keep it from falling on you.

I would also add if you had the money to just replace both tanks new. Especially while the bed is off. I got mine for a hundred bucks a peice with a good warranty and youll start fresh and know what you have. Pin holes are no fun and will show up one day when you don’t expect even if the tanks look decent. Would suck to put it all together to have a leak not far in the future potentially

And if you do replaced the tank/tanks as CHEESY mentioned.
Good time to replace the rear with a 38 gallon Spectra F26E.

Only negative with the larger tank is it is 7 inches deeper, and you may not be able to install the spare under it.
I have mine mounted in the bed. I found a mount that was a Ford option when the trucks were new.

No way Iam getting under the truck with my scranny az to bench press that dang spare.
Weighs more than me.

Goat, do you have a source for that tire mount in the bed or did you just happened to find it in a junk yard? I am trying to do the same thing.

I have never come across one in a junk yard, Iam always looking.
The guy I was buying fire wood from had it in his 90 F-250.
Told him I was looking for one, said I could have it if i wanted it. $20 and it was mine.

It didn`t have the bracket to mount the wheel to the mount. looked all over the internet to find one.
Finally used a piece of steel 3" X 1/4" X 10 1/2", cut off the corners, filed it smooth. Drilled a hole in the center, and used the "J" Hook bolt for the under bed tire mount. Slipped it in the long verticle slot of the mount and center hole of the piece of steel. Cut bolt to length, threaded it and use a Lug nut to hold the tire secure. Also drilled a hole in the bolt for a Pad Lock.

Also Drilled 2 holes to line up with the holes in the wheel, threaded them and used a hard ware store bolt with the same thread of the Lug Nut, then use 2 Lug Nuts to secure it to the wheel.

I mount the wheel so the air fill is to the top out side to make it easy to check air pressure.

With it mounted on the drivers side, it does not create any blind spots, probably why Ford made it for the left side.
& Bolts mount it to the bed.

I have a thread I did a couple years back, see if I can find it.....

Here is one some E-Bay idiot wants to get rich on... good ole E-Bay

This is in the bed of my truck, I've always assumed it was for a spare tire.

My old man carried his spare in the back for a few years, but then someone nicked it out in a krogers parking lot.
To this day he still doesn't have a spare.
