I have the factory lsd. I need to inspect it and replace the oil. What do I look for when I pull the cover off? What oil do I use?

They put LSD in these from the factory?.....far out man. There was literally a thread about this yesterday. It's called "rear end identification".

I assume it is a lsd. LSD = limited slip differential. Is there another term I should be using?

No, you're fine. I'm just not one for acronyms. I put "GP" in a thread one time as "general purpose" and confused a handful of folks that was thinking "glow plugs". But check the other thread.

If you want to test it, block the front tires, take it out of gear, and lift one rear tire off the ground. Leave the other rear tire solid on the ground. Try to turn the tire by hand that is off the ground. The resistance you feel is the limited slip. Most are worn out by now, but you can tell how much power it will laying to the ground by how hard it is to turn with the other tire not moving.

Yes they came with factory limited slips. Mine and my dad's truck both have them.
When pulling the cover off just inspect the usual things like metal, water intrusion, ect.
To test the LSD just do what Franklin suggested.
Be sure to add some LSD additive in too, helps with them chattering on pavement.

Unless it's rebuilt or almost new, you most likely won't get chatter leaving the additive out. You'll a bit extra grip instead. If it does chatter, you can add it afterwards.

That said, they experience 'limited-grip' when you have a ton of payload on... which is when you really hoped you wouldn't get stuck.
