Hi fellow Oilburners,

I joined this forum after running across it many times trying to find information about IDI diesels.

I am interested in IDI performance, alternative fuels, and rebuilding IDI motors.

I am excited to finally be apart of this fantastic forum now!

Here is a bit I know about the truck;
Its a 1989 F250, 7.3l IDI, C6 Automatic, 2 wheel drive, 2 door extended cab, long bed.
It was used to illegally tow weight well beyond its rated capacity, and was started on a gas soaked rag every day. After 7 years of such treatment it finally gave up.
3.55 Rear end

The frame is not original and I have been told it is from a 1992 F-550 or something of that sort. This was confirmed by a local mechanic friend who has had both trucks. That was the first thing he noticed when he crawled under...It seems like a lot of work to swap an entire truck onto another frame, but it looks like that's what they did.

Those front seats are newer, but not bolted down correctly, so I'll try to find a bench seat to put in.
The hood was powder coated without primer so it is all flaking off and starting to rust...

I have two parts motors, an 87 6.9l that fired up, and a 88 7.3l IDI that runs. Last time I ran it a few months ago I could not hook up #1 injector line so it only fired on 7 cylinders, but I fixed that problem now.
I am looking for an engine stand that I can use to work on the motors when I want to do some major work or etc. Old tires aren't great for checking bearing clearances or etc...
I will be pulling rod bearing caps and taking oil samples (blackstone) before deciding which one to put in the truck. If both are good engines, the weaker one will go in the truck, then I'd like to build up the other one with a bit if performance.
WVO/Black diesel may be in the future for this truck...;)

Happy Tinkering!
