After all of my hard-headed braggadocio... I am now on official fire watch. LOL

The smoke HAS gotten quite a bit more acrid now.

I just got a notice from boots on the ground that the fire started moving again. It has now reached Heybrook ridge. That is across the river, then across the highway, then across the ridge from me.

I am officially still in level 2 evac. Meaning I should get out, but they can't come and make me just yet. Level 3, means get out, period. Don't even stop to pack anything. (Well, I'm already packed and ready. LOL)

But at least now I have a plan.

I WILL be able to see it if it starts to come over the top of the ridge. It is extremely unlikely to do so. And if it does, then it still has to cross the highway. (And they WILL fight it at the highway!) Then still has to cross the river.

This is the reason they still have me on level 2. It really is extremely unlikely the fire will come this direction.

People in the town of Index are wetting down their entire houses now. The ones that haven't already evacuated. (They ARE level 3, and can be arrested and carried out, but not likely that will happen.) Index is right in the path, with the fire following heybrook ridge over there...

IF.... IF I start seeing the light from flames at the top of the ridge, I will go ahead and evacuate. I won't wait for it to cross the ridge then the highway then the river. Seeing flames, or the light of them, at the top of the ridge will be close enough for me.

Going to be a long night of watching the top of that ridge. I don't know if I can stay awake all night.

I know the feelings you are going through. We went through this 3 years ago, had to evacuate....at night. the wind changed and it started coming our way, then it changed and blew east away from us. Was pretty scarrrry.
Came home the next morning.
I think that was the fire that started in commieland and jumped into Nv. crossed Hwy 395 and burned 30K acres.

Thing about fires, is the blowing embers that the wind carry, plus the fire creates it`s own winds, like Tornado type funnels that sort of explode and it shoots way up in the air and the embers start smaller fires way ahead of the main fire. You cannot second guess a fire.

There is one now in Ca. and we have had ash and smoke past 3 or 4 days. 3 days ago it was like having a smoky camp fire in your back yard.

Selahdoor we can all say hang in there, but till you have the emotions and fear going through you mind, the majority won`t understand.
Be sure you have all your important papers first, then Guns and Ammo. Going to have to shoot the looters and protect your self.
Only you know what you are facing, don`t take any chances.

Edit: yesterday about 1PM a Fire PU flew up the road with lights flashing, then back down and up the road behind us. Up the road 1/4 mile was a column of white smoke coming up by a house next to some Pine trees.
Finally the big Fire Truck got there and snufed it.
Scary hour or so, for sure.
Sheriff showed up, guess he was going to shoot it. :shoot:

Looks like he's still on the edge of the level 2 and level 1 alerts, at least that's how it appears compared to his previous picture? Unless I'm looking at it wrong and he's firmly in the red area now?

This was pulled from the county sheriff's Twitter page as linked in the above article.

Here is the fire, on google maps. I am in the center of the red dot on the left.

The fire is headed straight for us. My neighbor is in direct touch with fire rescue, and I have asked him to sound the alarm on his fire dept truck, if we need to evacuate.

Damn revenooers!
Talk about a "tell all", from that remark alone I've figured out that Salahdoor is running a still...... and I've deduced that's why he was worried about the fire.

Glad to hear your okay! The news said there were no deaths or missing persons, but not seeing you on here led me to believe you were in jail and you didn't want to waste your phone call on a Oil Burners post.

Can't wait to read about your adventure.

Yeah but who would have expected them to light half the county on fire just to catch Uncle Jesse LOL

I can hear Roscoe's laugh too!
