Getting ready for safety inspection. On November 29th I ordered 5 of these

They finally showed up Yesterday the 17th...... Less than impressed with shipping time.

While I was waiting for them to show up I noticed the license plate lamps were both dead. Swung by the local parts store and paid $22 for two LED 194 bulbs! At least I didn't have to wait for them..... One of the old ones had disintegrated in the socket and I had to chip it out. At least the plate lights work now.

I scrounged up some used lenses because I knew the ones on the truck were pretty rough. Lucky for me because two of the old ones came apart when removing them. The used lenses actually came off the 94 I took the visor from.

Used lenses on top, original lenses on the bottom. The far right one was already replaced by the previous owner.

They're not overly bright, I think they're just about right. They should be plenty bright at night without being excessive.

I'll try to remember to get a night picture.

Night picture. They're slightly dimmer than the corner markers. Perfect!

Here's a picture of the same bulbs, from the same place, in a slightly different application. I like them. The shipping time could have been long because of the time of year.

Yeah I get that but it still seemed excessive to me. I can't really complain too loud, I paid like $14 for 5 bulbs shipped as opposed to the $22 I paid for 2 locally. Really I was just getting nervous because I have to get it inspected this week. I was running out of time!

When I got the bulbs the other day for my tail light harness same situation as you. Autozone wanted ~20 bucks for two LED. I went to Walmart and got the traditional.

I never buy bulbs at the parts store for that exact reason, but I needed them now and it was convenient. Honestly I'm hoping I'll never have to touch them again too but we'll see how that works out.

I actually got the cheap ones, they had a pair for $27 too!

Nothing big to report today but I got the weld on 90° pipe fittings in the mail for the headlight guards for the front bumper. I made some cardboard templates yesterday and today I cut and ground the attachment plates. Again, I want everything to be able to be unbolted for serviceability.

Lower mounting plates. 3/16" steel. Will be sandwiched between the channels the bumper is made from and a piece of thick aluminum diamond plate I will cap everything with (assuming the scraps I have are big enough).

The upper mounting plates are 3/8 thick. They'll be drilled and tapped at the bottom so I wanted them a little bit thick so they wouldn't just bend in an impact. As usual, I'd rather build it overkill....

The headlight guards are going to be 1-1/2 sch40 steel pipe.
