Badass truck needs engine.

IDI TURBO engine needs a truck.

I think I found a new money pit lol. I wonder if I can make it fit the budget.....

It's a 1970 International Harvester Truck. Stick a 7.3 IDI Turbo in that bad boy:shoot:

Well......I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....or ... like. Something....
You know the saying. They're an acquired taste. If you don't like 'em, acquire some taste LOL
I have an acquired taste! For good looking Ford trucks, especially bull nose ford trucks and since my tow truck is an 87 I'm trying to get the brick nose to grow on me but I really prefer the sleek lines of the 80-86.

Hey, fun fact: the IH logo is a Farmall "H" driving towards you with a man sitting on the tractor. The black "H" is the big tractor tires, and the red "I" is the tractor and the "dot" on the "I" is the man's head.

Agreed! The only problem is I want an 86 with a factory 93 turbo idi and zf5 so I'd have to build it.
Ha!, That's my dually! It's a 1986 F350 crew cab with a 93 factory turbo IDI and a zf5! And yeah, through a long series of events I scored all those parts and pieces and built it. So, I got the look, the turbo, the OD, and.........a shot at cavitation! Since my dually is laid up right now, I'm ready tempted to fix the original 6.9 and put all the turbo stuff on it but that's a decision for another day.

I think this counts, even though it's an RV.

It took me a couple days to get down to Tucson from Southern UT, but I made the long trip to buy this today for $3500. Runs and drives but needs lots of things done. It's gonna be 2-3 days of driving back now. Might stop and get new rear tires on it at the Walmart in Flagstaff since they are 9 years old, and I saw a plug in one when I was checking/filling the tires. Nice and cool there, so less miserable to hang out at Walmart while they do the tires. The fronts are only 4 years old and have good tread, so they can wait a bit. Although one was dead flat, so I'm not sure if the tire has a leak and needing patching, or if the bead has a leak due to the rim being bent or something. I'll just keep checking them all to be sure nothing goes flat. There's a tire shop down the road from the RV park in UT I'm heading back to for a while, so if nothing else, I can have them check the tires/rims.

Tire sizes for those who might wonder: Front 235/75R15 / Rear 31x10.50R15

Might need smaller diameter front tires, since it seems like it's sitting a bit too high in the front, but I'll worry about that when it's time to replace them.

That’s a good find. Looks like it has a roll cage inside. How’s the get up and go with the 31‘s on the back? This would be the time to go shorter if it’s too doggy.

I only did a short ride along with the seller and it was only on flat city streets so it's hard to tell. He went through all 4 gears but that's not saying much. It appears to have a '65 manufactured 1200cc engine based on the engine code and serial, which is the same engine as '64. Someone on TheSamba suggested going to smaller tires too. I guess I'll wait a bit to replace the rear tires, after I have time to do research. I'll just keep checking the tire pressures all the way around several times a day to be sure nothing lets low/flat on the tow back. Those big tires don't have to hold much weight, so they might be fine a bit longer, as long as they are kept aired up around 30psi.

Yep, roll cage. The rear engine cage is coming through the engine firewall to bolt up to the cage inside which is.. interesting. The holes are too big and let WAY too much noise in from the engine, so they need to be sealed up somehow with rubber.

I had actually found one for you on one of my lawn mower deals, and was planning on making it part of some of the work I was supposed to do for the lady, but she flaked out at the last minute and nothing came of it. I was hoping to coax you to majestic NW Florida with it. Cool bug though! Congrats Cubey!

Of all the stuff I've been able to mess with, a Volkswagen has eluded me, I'd like to tinker on one one day.

Towed our 32’ Gulf Stream (around 7k lbs). The old girl was steady and sure footed. Definitely didn’t break any acceleration records though, lol. Temps stayed around 190-200.

Have an old wood grain edition Tekonsha that’s plumbed into the brake line which did great, have 3.54’s but the truck did fine around 60-65 on flats and 50ish on hills.

Neighbors probably heard me coming a few blocks away, the old diesel noise is music to my ears.

This is from today and yesterday afternoon. I was going to go to Colorado this weekend. I found that the driver's front wheel on the Blue Truck had a loose bearing. This is the one that someone had cross threaded the nuts on before. I had new bearings so I was going to replace them. After packing the new bearings, I accidentally got the inner nut cross threaded. It got tight enough that I broke the "socket" that I made years ago. I knew then that I wasn't going to Colorado. I called around and the NAPA store north of my garage had one on hand. I told them that I'd be there in the morning. I unloaded the three wheeler from the bed, rejetted it back to lower elevation, and rode it home from my garage. this morning, I went into work to fix my tool just in case. Then I took off on the three wheeler headed for NAPA. Along the way, I saw a guy I know who was out putting up some electric fence with his wife so I had to stop and talk to him for 10 or 15 minutes. I got to NAPA and they sure did have the right socket on hand. $70 later, I was on the way to my garage. I dug out my thread files and touched up the threads on the hub. Then, with even more four letter words than I said yesterday, I managed to get the inner nut on against the bearing. Boy was I ever happy! Now, I'm just sitting inside the house where it's cool. I'll wait to go back out until tomorrow. Why not? I AM on vacation!
