As the title explains im in need of diesel shop or member here that knows these 7.3 idi engines.

Specifically in timing my engine and adjusting the fipl and tackling a oil leak. I had my best friend tackling these issues but he recently passed due to depression and I am on the other side of the world on a military deployment.

If there is a member here that can handle these issues I would welcome it. I have already sent it to a shop that another friend suggested but they were like where is the obd2 port and paid them 1k to pull a turbo due to boost issues.

Ps.
I do have a kent moore timing adapter kit to time the truck and turbo install kit(orings, ect).

Sorry to hear about your friend. If you were in NW Florida I'd love to help. I think everyone that's consistently on this forum is in your corner of the states. I guess most of these trucks just barely spilled out of Canada and piled up in the top left corner of America.

@C_Luft I’m north in Lewiston about 5 hours. But some of the guys at work may know someone down that ways, I’ll ask around tomorrow. One of them was an AF guy from Boise so he may be a good source. Condolences amigo…

Awesome pics and what an experience! From myself and I’m sure many other oil burners, we thank him and all others for their service!

I also asked two guys at work and they didn’t know anyone. But the guy who just moved here from the Boise area wasn’t in so I haven’t been able to ask him. I should see him tomorrow though and will post back

Here’s my coworkers recommendation. He said the owner has a diesel bay on the back end of the shop separate from the petrol stuff.
He said the place is a bit expensive but his old friend took all his power strikes there and never had any issues. Best of luck deployed amigo!

Hey thanks everyone for your replies I really appreciate it.

Stu Bailey thanks for the recommendation I will have my buddy call and see if they have availability.

Austin86250 thanks for the reply, I have a kent moore timing kit that I bought a few years thats with the truck in boise along with a turbo install kit that you may need for the oil leak.

Also for anyone wanting to visit or take a vacation in eastern europe, Poland, Lithuania(countries I have been to). In my experience plan tickets round trip can be 900 to 1100 if its not last minute(passport needed). In poland dont expect people to know english, but its very cheap for food, taxi, hotel and even rental cars. Think like how cheap things were back in 2010. Roads are very narrow 90% are 2 lane road and very little highways, and because of that it can take 5-6 hours to get across poland. Every car is left hand drive like in the USA. Polish cities I recommend is gdansk, augustow, suwalkie and elk.

In Lithuania people are very nice, speak decent English most of the time and are a little bit more expensive than poland but nothing like germany. Roads are nicer and bigger in Lithuania and you can tell Lithuania is more developed than poland. In Lithuania they love their cobble stone streets in the city.
Cities in Lithuania kaunas, and Vilnius.

Well the truck is at the shop and they had 2 issues with it, the turbo is leaking from the center cartridge(was new from R&D idi in Nov 2021)(resealed a couple months ago by justin, not knocking him). The second is the truck modified too much for them and I respect their decision( 90cc pump, stage one turbo, intercooler, etc).

I may end up having the original turbo put back on so my friend can use it. Now I have heard about too much crank pressure when deleting the ccv on the 7.3 ps and 6.0 ps causing the turbo to leak from the center cartridge and causing smoke at idle(which I do have). My cdr is new(Nov 2021) and unmodified. Any suggestions in case the factory turbo does the same thing.

Thanks

I’ve spent a lot of time in Poland, love it there. Gdańsk and krakow are more likely to have English-speakers because they’re so touristy. I speak Polish though so I go where I want!
