Welp,

The fuel tank I bought off a guy from marketplace started leaking bad. Pulled it out and found several small cracks on the bottom and back.

Would a fuel tank sealer work y'all think? Any recommendations? I don't have a welder.

You can jb weld it and then get some stuff called "red kote" and slosh it around on the inside. I've done that to several tractors and almost was going to do it to my tow trucks tank but my junkyard buddy had a good tank that I bought. But really "red kote" is some "show nuff" sealer.

Already tried the JB weld and it didn't work. I may try that stuff if it'll work. I paid $400 for the tank and after 4 months this happened. I don't understand how it happened very peculiar and it cracked in 4/5 spots.

Was this an aftermarket addition? Whose the manufacturer? Maybe they have a warranty or something?

I bought it used. No ID tags unfortunately on the tank. That's FB marketplace for ya I guess.

The jb weld is to stop the red kote from leaking before it seals. Red kote boasts that it will fill an 1/8in hole without any help. I've used it on some pretty nasty tractor tanks.

I had a Farmall C and an Oliver. The tanks were really rusty. I set the Farmall on jack stands, filled the tanks with a couple pounds of roofing nails, ratchet straped the tanks to the wheels, cranked the tractor up using a lawnmower gas tank temporarily, and let the tractor run and tumble the tanks to get all the rust loose. Washed the tanks, prepped them, and red koted them.

can you braze?
if not, try silver solder with a good acid flux
you can get a little kit on amazon for 20 or 30 bucks

rinse and flush well if it had gas, I soldered diesel tank by just draining
don't blow up

I'll look into that. Thanks for the information.

I think you got took. $400 seems like a lot for a used tank.
Don`t know what year your truck is, but here is one for a 93 on Autozoo For $126.

Do a Google search and see what you find out there new.
I wouldn`t mess around with a crap used tank.

It's a 75 gallon auxiliary tank with a toolbox. It's rust free inside and out. Pretty average priced in my area.
