The "rides like a car" bit was Ford's slogan for "twin I beam" suspension when it came out in the 60's. And "the better idea" is Ford's slogan from the 70s, I think.

I never gave a second thought to new oil in my IDIs. Whenever i got a cheap 5 gallon bucket (not anymore) I'd dump the whole thing in. Always idled smoother. Of course that's not 90%, but i wouldn't worry with new oil. You could always thin it out with gas or kerosene.
I miss my IDI for that reason, especially now. I ain't burning new or used oil in my powerstroke.

This thread inspired me to throw half a quart of new motor oil in my fuel tank as additive cause I wasn’t going to use that oil anymore (sold the rig I used that oil in) and my 6.9 runs much much better now! The change was unbelievable

I like that :)
My older son said: F-O-R-D is the chemical formula for rust.

Here in Finland they also say FORD = Fix Or Repair Daily

I can confirm all 3 statements!

Nachschlag:
In Germany is a saying:
"Mit dem Ford fuhr er fort und mit dem Zug kam er wieder heim."
"He left with the Ford and returned home by train."

I need to confirm this as well - as it happened with my E350 too.
Then you are doing it wrong. Owned nothing but fords all my life from a focus to a F550 and everything in between. Never been stranded. Oh by the way FORD stands for First On Race Day! Just ask Enzo.

Well I got the oil today. The guy offered to deliver it… I don’t think he’ll be offering delivery anymore. It did not go as planned.

On the plus side, those IBC totes are tough! We did get it stood back up and moved into the garage. After closer inspection though, I do not think this is new, fresh motor oil. It smells like it has hydraulic fluid mixed in, and I see a lot of small particles floating in it, like dust settled into it somehow. It’s definitely oil (probably a mixture of fluids), and I tested it to make sure it burns. I’m going to mix up a small test batch 50/50 with diesel and see how the engine likes it.

This is how you make memories, if it went "as planned" you wouldn't have that great photo op. But it sounds like you're going to experimenting with WMO, welcome to the clan. We'll teach you the secret handshake when we meet at our secret time on the secret day. Good luck with it!

I’m just glad the container held together. When it was rolling towards the edge of the lift gate, I was 100% expecting the top to burst open when it hit the ground and dump hundreds of gallons of oil into the open garage. I’m also glad I had everyone move away from the truck!

After the fall, the damage to the tote, and the fact it doesn't seem to actually be new engine oil... Did he still charge you full price?

I didn’t ask for any money back, I was too focused on being glad nobody got hurt and nothing but the tote was damaged. I don’t think it’s pure new oil, but I don’t know for certain. Does full synthetic oil smell different from dino? Maybe I’ll buy a quart of valvoline 5w30 full synthetic just to compare color/smell to what’s in the tote.

My opinion it does smell a bit different, but wouldn’t say is smelling like hydraulic fluid.

But ****** motor oil should look more like honey than molasses… that stuff in the tote looks awful dark to me….

He has the usual crappy semi-worthless tailgate lift most small box trucks have that folds up under the truck. They ssuucckk! Several of our trucks came with those, eventually you tip a load over.

1) It tilts out and away from the the truck and when it gets to the ground then one end of the tail gate tips and causes it to slope down.. So your top heavy load wants to tip Over like the oil did.

2) The tail gate is barely big enough for a pallet Jack. So you have to turn it hard and again make the load want to tip.

They are crraapp! Luckily no one got hurt.

The tail gates that fold up against the rear truck door rock! They stay level and are 2x wider No tipping the load!

Just glad the plastic container did not crack or pop open.

Lady luck was on your side today!
