Well fellas, I think my wife loves me, because in the mail a turbo kit showed up for my truck from CDD. Now I just gotta figure out how the heck to install this thing. Turbo pedistal/exhaust looks easy enough, but it came with a coolant reservoir relocation and a big monster crankcase breather catch can, and does away with the cdr. Anyone got ideas on how to mount these big boys in? Not seeing anything on CDD's tech articles or anything...

Pics soon to follow.

I can PM you an address that you can send it to, so you don't have to bother with all that.....I know you're busy.

Haha funny guy. I threw a canopy over the hood of my truck, as my luck goes it started pouring! Working the valve covers off right now...

So, exhaust goes in, dreams come out, right?

Got as far as installing the passenger valve cover. Wasn't the IDIT cover I thought it would be, had a little custom made bracket for the glow plug relocation. Had to modify it slightly, the bolt holes didn't quite line up.

Then I have the big catch can that I have no idea where I'm going to mount... And the replacement coolant reservoir, which I also don't know where to put. Reason I have the coolant one is because the intake is a big cylinder filter that occupies the space of the old coolant tank.

Open to ideas on where to mount them, unless @Thewespaul wants to pipe in ;)

This is my one engine.
Not a CDD catch can kit, it's one I made up, but might give you an idea. You are in custom modifying territory as you noticed so nothing is really bolt on or going to line up perfectly without slight modifications, even when purchasing kits. Reach out to wes by phone. He doesn't really use the forum.

Like I said you can really put things anywhere you want that makes sense though. Since your can is longer you can have it on the CS like this if you want. I made all those AN lines myself but alot of kits are push lock so you cut whatever length hose wherever you decide to put things.

Dang, I wish I had a big white board like that in my garage ;) I tried searching for a number for Wes, but couldn't seem to find one. Unless I'm looking in all the wrong places....

It looks like it was made to fit next to the radiator, howbwever I have AC lines that run right through those open holes. I'll do some more mocking up tomorrow.

Edit... Wow I'm dumb, his number is literally under the contact us....

Well got the up pipes fitted, about to set the turbo on and noticed there's a paper gasket and an o ring for the pedistal drain? Are you actually supposed to use both? Never seen it done that way. Usually it's one or the either.

Edit, found a parts break down, and it shows only an o ring ever being used, so I'm not going to double up on gaskets :)

As far as the catch can and overflow go, get everything else installed and then see where you can mount the stuff. Carts/horses, chickens/eggs, etc.

That's where I'm trying to get. Turbo up pipes and turbo itself are in, working on the down pipe right now, but it wasn't bent correctly so I'm modifying it with my 3lb convince me stick.

 Anyone have an ATS 098 stock air box? Willing to do a trade for this cold air intake. I cannot remove the ac off my truck, per the wife.

Well, turbo is fully installed, minus connecting the down pipe to the rest of the exhaust and figuring out what to do with the air intake. I think I'm going to go to home depot tomorrow and get some 4" pvc and see about making my own tubing. I have until next Friday to get it running otherwise I'll have to yard it back off and go N/A because I have a camping trip coming up.

If you can stick the air filter on without the long tube, I'd do that (short term). Look at my RV. It has no cover the filter and it's in that van engine tunnel, and it does fine temperature wise, even in warmer climates than the NW.

Have I ever mentioned that I hate welding? Cause I'm not good at it.

Also, what do Y'all think of my custom intake?

Yes I know decreasing the diameter of the air inlet and having not smooth bends in exhaust hurt performance, but it works for me in the pinch I'm in. I still need to band clamp the exhaust together, and turn the IP up a little, but I can hear the turbo spinning and doing a few snap throttles, I can see the boost gauge moving. Still need to install the Pyro too.
