I have a used kit that I bought with my truck for 500$. It’s been sitting for awhile because my truck is my daily and I haven’t had the time to install, nor do I mind the N/A because I live in the California valley and a turbo isn’t a necessity at this elevation.

With that said, I’m curious what all I have and what it will take for me to install what I have. I’d imagine I can buy individual parts for whatever I’m missing. I also want to know if things look in okay shape based off of what you all can see in the pictures. I’ve looked at a few diagrams and watched a few videos but I think a more specific description from some of you all will help me more. Thanks all. Pics below.

Yes Banks still sells parts for their turbo kits. From what I can see, it looks like you're missing the crossover pipe(s?) and maybe the air cleaner for sure. The air cleaner isn't as important as the pipe is. People change/modify/customize their intakes all of the time. Other than not seeing any broken fins or rub marks, it's hard to tell from pictures if the turbo itself is good. A little bit of side to side play on the shaft in the intake side of the turbo is normal. There should be extremely little or no in and out play. If the play looks minimal and it doesn't look like the turbo was pouring oil out, I'd clean it up and see how it goes. If you want to be 100% certain, you can send it off to be rebuilt, but that will set you back several hundreds of dollars. Which way you go, I guess, depends on how bad you want it installed, how soon you want it installed, and how certain of the reliability of the turbo you want to be. And maybe on the size of your spending budget.

I do actually have the air cleaner. It’s not pictured but it’s the oiled banks filter.

As for the crossover pipe. The crossover pipe is what connects the two exhaust manifolds and connects it to the up pipe correct? The up pipe then connects to the turbo? I can’t find a crossover pipe for the IDI on the banks website. Am I missing something? I don’t have the money for a rebuild. New injectors takes priority over that. I’ll check the play on the fans to see what’s up tho. Do you also if this is a 1st gen or 2nd gen?

Something else to keep in mind is the banks kits are specific to whatever transmission you have. A pedistal for an E4od will not fit a Zf5, ask me how I know LOL

Yes and yes.

I'm pretty sure that it's a second gen going off of the intake hat (the red parts that says Sidewinder). I also have to admit that I've never seen one that was painted red. They are black from Banks. As for the crossover pipe, your best bet would be to call them directly at (800) 601-8072. You'll have to explain what you're wanting to buy. I bought new crossover/up pipes for my first gen Banks a few years back. The rep emailed me the diagrams so that I could be sure to order what I wanted. That may not be necessary for a set up that's still being sold new.

Cool I’ll get in touch with them and do some talking it over. This being a second gen, it is wastegated?

That would be the oil drain.
You can tell easily if it's wastegated or not. Wastegated will have a tube going from the compressor housing to a diaphragm running a lever on the exhaust side. Looking at your photos, it is wastegated.

Okay I see what you’re saying. I’m trying to picture where the oil drain goes, old cdr port? Although that would be way too much oil going into the chambers causing a runaway?

Yes that's where the oil drain goes to, and even then, the valley is already full of oil, from the push tubes. Runaway would be if you had oil going into the intake.

Ah I was mistaken, thinking the port where the old cdr passes exhaust back into intake, not where exhaust enters the cdr. I understand now. Off the top of your head, do you know how big my exhaust needs to be? I’m running a 3 inch straight pipe to a 4 inch tail pipe. Will that work okay?

Should be plenty for that turbo.
The port on the intake, you should have a block off plate for that, since the cdr gets rerouted.
