So still waiting on the ICP, got bored and changed the IPR,

Deff made things run way smoother, but hasnt changed the hard to start problem

Weird part was, i thought when you changed the IPR all the reserver oil poured out into the valley? Because it didnt, nothing really came out, maybe a teaspoon of oil

Tried unplugging the ICP with the new IPR and still a hard start

Edit: i havnt tried unplugging the EOT, ima try that next time its hot and try a hot restart

sounds like you HPOP reservoir isn't full. You did measure from the inspection plug at the top of the reservoir (allen head plug) and confirm the oil is no more than 1" below the top correct?

What's the EOP? The reservoir oil level is checked by removing the inspection plug and measuring the distance from the top of the casing to the top of the oil. Should be under an inch.

The engine oil pressure sensor on the backside of the hpop

Yeah idk why i had it in my head the oil temp switch went to the reservoir, ive had that reservoir off before and i know the gear is there, it can't have oil there, well, not much

So, thanks to life and my new buisness taking off, havnt had time for the old hoss, constantly working on it and down time cost me too much money, so i broke down and got a payment

Now im back tinkering with the 7.3 and figured id post an update with what happened.

Turned out the Lpop was trashed from the rebuilder not installing the second alignment dowl that i guess he removed when taking the old pump off? Im not for sure how/why it went missing, but it did...

So after buying a new pump, she's still not building sufficient oil pressure to fire up, so im about to have to go through all the check valves and low pressure systems to see if something else has failed/forgotten.

Check valve on the block, cooler, o-ring on the pickup, basically everything you would have off during a rebuild because i cant trust what the rebuilder did

the good news is that the front cover somehow is untouched through all this carnage

and for someone who knows: I

m trying to figure out how thes mellings pump is superior to the oem one with one less lobe, i get that might make for more oil, but not when its so much thinner than the oem one, can anyone shed some light on that for me?
