well, after years of making lists of "want to do" "need to do" and "have to do" on my truck..it has ended.
The history,,, bought the 1993 f250 idi non running, not taken care of, in bad shape.
got it running, found a 1983 bed in good shape, swaped the front axle to a 1997 dana 60, fixed the ac,( its the bomb) , total rear brakes-brake cables, tool box, latter rack, glow plugs, new radiator, new rear tank, Holley red pump, in-line filters, pump turned up 2 flats, turbo kit, made my own exhaust, blah, blah,,,, always wanted to replace the front springs to f350 ones( added 2 rear leaves to pick up front ), fix the massive oil leaks, replace the radiator support ( i have a good used one), replace the noisy t case ( i have 2 1356 and a 4407 with shafts), plus more than you'd want to read,,,
The e4od has been shifting badly on and off for some time, now always, (got codes) went to fix it today and found more rust than i can fix, both front fenders, rad.support ( is BAD) cab is crusty , lots of spots, NO passenger cab mount left, p.s. hoses rusty, every thing is rusted, seized, broken or missing. ,,,, plus more ,,, its more than i can take\fix\deal with now,,,

So the search is on for another, ,,, replacement, parts truck, donor truck, d.d. truck ,,,, but this one is done for now,
Yes , i am a mechanic ( over 30 years,,, all I've ever done), yes, I have built trucks from nothing, parts, junks, and driven, wheeled them, built and sold them... plus, jeeps, dodges, chevys, sleds bikes,,,,,, cars, trucks,,, anything with a motor,,, I AM A GEAR HEAD..
And this one hits home,,,I've had it for 6-7 now, driven over 50k miles with it, ran waste atf in it ( well over 15k)and still running strong....
Thats my rant for now,,, just love my truck,,,

Just keep this one for parts and find another IDI powered truck. Then you can keep going. No matter how hard we try, sometimes we get to the point that it's just not worth it anymore.

I understand 'investing' beyond reason. I hope to also get my toy running and Haggerty insurance.
My insurance company might pay off on about 25% of money spent with full coverage.

i do have a write up in alternate fuel forum here, but with 2 tanks, i run filtered waste atf from work during the summer. 2 have 2 glass filters in line( 1 at the rear tank and 1 just before the holley red electric pump) by the switching valve . start on reg, diesel,, switch to atf,,, about 1/2 mile before i stop for the day/night, i switch to diesel.

well, not sure if this will get to the top of the list , as it has been almost a year,, but good news... i found a body guy , had him look at the truck,,, he said it was older than he thought (?) and its way easy to work on/fix..( oh yah)...sooooo,,,
i bought 2 new fenders, had a radiator support from a parts truck,
we worked a good deal,, he worked on my truck at my house a few weeks ago , from 9 am to 7 pm, non stop,, he brought his own food drinks and music,,, said " it went quicker that i thought".. He fixed all my body work problems in that time...
Very cool, now, the trade,, he knows nothing about mechanical things,,, sooooo...
his 84 chevy 4x4 383, th350 lifted,,, runs bad, and tons of other things ,,,
now, its my turn,,, found his cap and rotor were junk, ( had spares in my shop) put them on, found carb, was way out of adjustment,, timing off a lot,, blah,blah,blah... he is very happy and so am i ...i did hand him a good amount of cash, he did not want it, but i made him take it.
yesterday i did plugs and wires on his truck, and we plan on radiator, water pump, power steering pump , and a few more things he cant do,,, I am happy to do this for him, and made a new friend.
I did front calipers, pads rubber lines and made a new line from the drivers front brake to the passenger side today.
its on its way back.. i am very happy.. plus with fuel being so high, ive started getting free waste atf from work for the last 3-5 months ,,,
thats it for now, but im so happy to have my truck back,,, yes, ill look into the trans problem , the t-case issue and other things, but the thing that took the wind out of my sail was the rust... now the rust is fixed, i can fix the rest.
glad to be back in the IDI game..... thanks for reading.. NHWRENCH01.
