I don’t think so, I’ve had some entertainment talking to grey beards about old dragsters but have not found a location. Lots of guys up there remember the truck, it definitely ran tens and may have gotten into the 9s. I’ve learned that the “block flexing” stories were actually hyrdolocking problems on the launch. They had 16 water injectors that flowed an incredible gph to keep temps down. A few times they got too greedy on the flow rate and hydrolocked a few cylinders. They definitely didn’t have a stock bottom end because the weak link was the block which spiderwebbed cracks between freeze plugs. Wasn’t flexing, just breaking under stress because the cylinder walls were pushing outwards.

Yeah pretty nuts. It seems the original engine was a 7.3 sleeved to a 6.9, but they later went to a 40 over 7.3 for as much displacement as they could get. I think that’s when they started having block failures.

The truck is said to still be owned by the same guy and is just sitting in some barn unused and still assembled somewhere around Joliet Illinois.
I am the grandson on Bill Jahns, I live next door to him and he continues to be the “Dadiesel” to this day with his jet handicap cart. The truck is still in possession and I see it everyday. As a kid, I never saw the importance of this beast, and that’s been dormant for years now. She would start but spat oil everywhere out of the crankcase… As of now, she sits. What would the public like to let Bill know about this beauty?

I’ll sit down and have “story time” with him soon and write down a whole report/article.
That's great man. I am all about "story time" with them old cats that used to do some stuff! I could tell you some stories about old guys that told me some stories. Cant wait for the report!
