Am I gonna have to find a specialty parts house to get a C6 band adjusting nut? I can't seem to find it from the major retailers. Anyone have a part number? Info i see says to replace it when adjusting the band, presumably due to the seal on it.

I can't easily get mail right now, or I'd buy one on ebay for ~$10 shipped and be done with it.

In the morning, I'm gonna call a nearby little indie auto parts store and see if they have any. Being such a shop, they might know what it is by name, and might have it. Failing that, yeah, any good trans rebuilding shop probably keeps some on hand if they do a lot of C6 work. It's right on my way so if they have some for a reasonable price, I'll pick up a couple. I'm suspecting my C6's delayed 3rd gear is the 2nd gear band needing adjustment.

Oreilly’s at least has a listing. Otherwise you’ll probably have to order it online

I wonder if that has different threads since it claims it doesn't fit either of my C6 IDIs. Might be for older C6's? Looking in the AT band category, it only shows the bands themselves. Rockauto is the same way.

But then again, the rear axle vent that my Dana 70 takes isn't listed at all and the one I dug up that fits, claims it doesn't.

The Industry standard part number for a C6 band adjusting nut is #36922. All C6 transmissions 66-97 should use the same adjusting nut.

Well it may be beyond adjustments. Reverse is slipping really badly now. I had to back up to turn around in a park's parking lot this morning. Wish I knew how much longer it's going to last.

Hate to be that guy, but probably not much longer. I'd try getting it fixed before hard parts start breaking, causing the bill to go up.
