My wright brothers reenactment went pretty well to be honest. I think I flew a bit further than them. I don’t think their mom made them go to the doctor afterwards though LOL

Hey, I tell you what I did to my truck a couple days ago. I finally got the hydraulic hoses for my tow truck that I bought a few months ago and I FINALLY got to engage the hydraulic pump! And then!!!! I got to move ALL THE LEVERS!!!! (I was a born lever puller) and moved the wheel lift, extended the boom, diddled with the winches, and guess what??? Every hydraulic cylinder on the thing just poured fluid everywhere! It was fantastic! So now I get to rebuild hydraulic cylinders!!! Woohoo!

Running a big trailer harness cable in the "new" truck. I want to path it under the trim piece on the drivers side, up under the dash board. Pulled the trim piece up and the flange under it came with it. Pulled the carpet up and the entire area underneath was caked in wet mud, probably half an inch thick of old dirt, all soaking wet. I havent driven this thing in dirt in the year that ive had it so it must have all been in there from the quarry that it used to live in. Scooped out about a gallon of dirt and rust to find holes rotted thru the floor. SO, heres the first patch panel. Shielded root side, full fusion all around. There was an overlapped seem on the back that I couldnt get to to clean up so I had to weld into the rust there. Managed to build enough solid metal to grind it down into a nice shelf to weld the next patch on to. Left and right sides of the patch are extremely rusty and I really just welded them in to have some solid metal for the next patches.

Out of habit, I back into my driveway. When I walk the two blocks between work and home, I walk between the passenger's side and the house. I had a little W T F? moment when I went to open the driver's door after lunch. We had some storms roll through today. It could have happened this morning or even last night. So I got to buy a replacement mirror today.

I slammed the passenger door on my wrecker Im working on a couple days ago, and the whole mirror fell off. I figured it made it 35yrs, it was time.

I replaced the front right brake caliper, because ever since I did brakes, rotors, and soft lines up front that rotor has been dragging. So annoying! I've backed it off a few times and tinkered and lubed the slides but nothing lasts longer than a day. Hopefully this will cure it.

I also replaced the right rear parking brake cable that was not retracting as it should. They sure are smooth now!

And I know I took a picture but my phone doesn't think so...sorry just words today. :kick:

I'm going to put gaudy west coast mirrors with antennas on my trucks, especially now that one of my mirrors fell off and I have to do mirrors now.

I was traveling for two weeks out East last month. Came home and asked my wife and son when someone ripped the mirror off my drivers door? (I park on a pretty busy street.) They looked confused and said we did not notice. FYI they both drive by my truck generally twice a day. Fortunately the mirrow was laying on the street next to the truck, did not get run over, and the mirror was not broken.

I have the older style tow mirrors with the multiple bars that hook to the door that swing out and flip for towing and swing in and flip for driving. When I bought the truck they were rusted in towing mode. I tried to loosen the bolt on the drivers door mirror arm with a impact gun. (It is a IR Titanium, no slacker.) I also tried swinging them with vise grips. (Was hoping it was not too tight.) No such luck so I figured they could just stay in tow mode before I broke them.

Well over the last 4 years that has not worked out so good. The last two times that side got hit it just shattered the mirrow. (Makes me wonder what happen to their plastic mirrors?) It did not do much to the frame. So I bought replacement mirror's at O'Rielleys. They do not work on my truck, but are the same size. So I carefully pulled the mirror and seal out and put back on mine. It took me three tries the first time (Cracked the first two.) before I got the third one in. ($65 later, I could have bought a new one for my truck.) and two times the second time to get one in. ($42.00) So this was the third time someone took my drivers side out, but this time they knocked the mirror and arm clear off the bracket.

Unfortunately this A-Hole did not leave a note and offer to fix his/her mistake. (FYI Amazon was nice enought last time to leave a note and pay for the mirror replacement and a little extra for my time.) So this time since the mirror was off, the bolt stuck in the arm, I drilled and extracted the bolt. I went stainless this time, and added a little anti-seize for fun. Now my mirrors will stay in drive mode unless towing. We will see if I have any better luck going forward.

I have this style.
