I must not be looking in the right places, I've seen plenty of threads on how to do this upgrade, but what benifit does a 3g have over a stock?

Oh sweet so I can do away with that external regulator I've had to replace three times already? Heck yeah I know what I'm doing soon.

Dude had it marked shipped an hour after purchase thanks for heads up

Anyone know which vehicles have the bracket (mine's the top bolted one). I think one is the Taurus?

Years ago, my mom's 3G alt went out on her 2003 Taurus and she was pretty broke, so I went to a you-pull salvage yard and got one from another Taurus. It lasted for I dunno how many years, for the $30ish price. Heck, it might even be the one she still has on there now... but she also barely drives. She did put a new battery on it twice in the the past 13 years she's had it.

If my RV's goes out, I'll just stick to 1G probably since I won't have time to mess about getting wires and a cheap 3G. I can get a 100A 1G for $121 from O'Reilly same or next day with a lifetime warranty. I don't even have the "house" batteries connected up the alternator since I went to lifepo4 batteries back in October, so 100A is plenty for what gets run, especially on an IDI where there's no electronic ignition system. I have 3 generators now (I recently trash picked an 2017 model, $600 2200/2500W inverter generator, and repaired it for ~$50 in parts) so I have ways to get around a bad alternator a couple days if need be.

They’re not freshly rebuilt. Spins nice and looks good. I’m going to try to take it to the alternator shop this week, I’m sure all will be good. Chinese bearings from what I can see.

No they’re old stock reman that’s obvious but I put mine through testing and it’s like brand new no issues on my side

chinese bearings? How do you determine that? Been doing alts for a while, the bearings are the same as US rebuilds and ones I have used to rebuild. I always change out the brush cartridge to Motorcraft NOS on any alt. The back bearing cover is different than I have seen though. Still a great price as Chinese new and rebuilt start over 100
