I am looking at a 01-power stroke engine and trans. I don't know a lot about these engines. I have an IDI in my 66. It is out a truck and has a Z5 speed. It also has the complete wiring harness with it. The trans shifting lever sits in at an angle and is bent (or angled) toward the driver seat. Is this normal? I am trying to distinguish if this set up is from a bigger truck? Does this matter? Trying to determine if this engine would be user friendly on the street.
Can the harness/module be cut down with just the minimal wires to put in a mid sixty truck? This engine seems much wider than the IDI. Not sure how much of the inner fenders have to trimmed. My IDI had to be modified.
The gentleman that I am trying to buy it from wants me to make an offer, I just want to make sure that this will work for me. What would be a good price?
Sorry for the 6000 questions but I want to be sure. Thanks

shifter sounds normal

you're going to need all the wiring for the PCM and IDM to run the engine. Hopefully you can grab everything along with a pinout/schematic to see how to mate it to the 66 chassis.

obviously the IDI is a better choice for a 66 chassis since it practically requires one wire to run.
